China’s aging population has the characteristics of large scale, fast speed, imbalance and "not getting rich first".At present and in the future.the pressure on population aging is mainly reflected in the increase in the burden of old-age security and the increase in medical expenses. And the demand for social services for the elderly has expanded, and the above pressures are mainly due to the physical health of the elderly.China’s 13th Five-Year Plan proposes that healthy aging will play an important role in achieving the healthy China’s strategic goals. Therefore, the health status of the elderly is a very important issue. After China experienced a rapid urbanization process and economic development stage, the air pollution problem is grim.Air pollution seriously damages the health of residents and even threatens the survival and development of human beings.A large number of epidemiological studies at home and abroad have confirmed that air pollution can adversely affect the body’s breathing, circulation, urinary, nervous and immune systems. On this basis,a large number of economic studies have shown that air pollution is closely related to the increase in the incidence, treatment rate, admission rate and mortality of various systemic diseases such as respiratory and cardiovascular systems.According to a recent study published by the World Health Organization in 2018,about 7 million people worldwide die each year from exposure to fine particles in polluted air.The organization surveyed and estimated in 2011 that the health and economic damage caused by environmental pollution in China accounts for 21%of the disease burden of the residents.A large proportion of the premature deaths each year come from air pollution, and the environmental factors in the residents’ diseases The proportion is still on the rise. Therefore, deterioration of air quality will damage physical and mental health and increase medical costs, which will cause serious harm to public health and people’s well-being.Because air pollution has a hysteresis effect on health,it is necessary to study the health effects of air pollution on the elderly. This paper matches macro data at the city level with the China National Health and Pension Tracking Survey(CHARLS)2015 National Baseline Survey Microdata to study the impact of air pollution on the health of older people, based on income inequality, older people and younger ages. The elderly conducted a difference analysis. The difference between this paper and previous studies is that not only the research object is the elderly, but also the common influence effect of air pollution and economic development level on the health of the elderly.Elderly people aged 60 years and older were selected as subjects, and self-rated health was selected as the explanatory variable.Interpretative variables mainly include the following variables:one is the core explanatory variable, that is,the environmental variable, this article refers to the air pollution situation;the other is the other control variables, including demographic variables, economic variables, social variables and lifestyle variables.Based on the Grossman health production function, this paper studies the factors affecting the health of the elderly. On the one hand,it includes individual factors,on the other hand,it includes air pollution factors. The individual factors belong to the micro level. The air pollution factors belong to the macro level. Therefore, this paper uses multiple layers of order. The response model models the sample, and the main conclusion is that air pollution has a negative impact on the health of urban elderly people;due to income inequality, air pollution is more harmful to the health of low-income seniors;air pollution It has a negative impact on the health of the elderly and has no significant impact on the health of the elderly.Economic development can alleviate the negative impact of air pollution on the health of the elderly.Initial health stocks and social activities have a positive impact on the health of the elderly. The level of education has no significant effect on the health of the elderly.
