Polypropylene has become the fastest growing plastic in the w orld due to its low density,easy degradation,good physical properti es and easy processing.Especially because of its innocuity and goo d compatibility with the human body,polypropylene is widely used in indoor and vehicle environment,and is even considered as a wo rld recognized safe food container material.However,with the incre asing emphasis on the harm of Volatile organic compounds(VOC),the influence of VOC emitted from PP on human health has been gradually concerned.In this paper,zeolite powder was used as deodorant to simulat e material VOC emission by 10 L bag method,and TVOC and alde hyde ketones were adsorbed by Tenax tube and DNPH tube respect ively,and the results were characterized by thermal desorption gas chromatograph(GC-MS)and high performance liquid chromatograph y(HPLC).The effects of baking,extrusion process and zeolite pow der on the emission of polypropylene TVOC(total volatile organic compounds),formaldehyde and acetaldehyde were investigated.The results are as follows:(1)baking can obviously reduce the VOC emission performance in polypropylene;(2)the addition of v acuum section in the extruder can significantly reduce the content o f VOC;(3)in the case of adding only zeolite powder,the emissionperformance of VOC does not descend,and only with the vacuum extrusion process,the emission performance of VOC can be signifi cantly optimized;(4)At a certain temperature,the concentration of VOC in polypropylene decreased with the increase of the extrusion temperature of polypropylene.(5)In a certain range,the concentratio n of VOC in polypropylene decreased with the increase of the dosa ge of zeolite powder.By adding zeolite powder and adjusting baking and extrusion p rocess conditions,the VOC emission in PP decreases significantly,a nd has a good application prospect.
