Low Carbon Behaviors Of Households

With rapid growth of the China's economy,Carbon dioxide emissions are rising gradually.In 2006,China's total carbon dioxide emissions were 6661.60 million tons.At the end of 2016,the total amount increased to 9164.50 million tons,by an increase of 3 7.57%.If the amount of carbon emissions of China continues to grow at such a high rate,the environmental problem will become a stumbling block to its economic development.In this context,it is very meaningful to study the influencing factors of residents' environmental behaviors.Excessive living garbage and serious traffic pollution are the two hot environmental problems at present.Therefore,this paper empirically analyses decision-making on garbage reduction and car purchase of households.Psychology is important for residents' behaviors.Based on the theories of environmental behavior,this paper studies the influences of psychological variables on residents' low-carbon behavior.Based on the online questionnaire to obtain data,I expore herd mentality,responsibility,environmental knowledge,perception about wheather waste was handled effectively and perception for environmental polltution how to affect willingness to pay for waste reduction.At the same time,I expore fuel cost,car emissions,perception for environmental polltution,responsibility,Implement of policy subsidies,infrastructure about new energy vehicle,oil price rising,and recognition about new energy vehicle how to affect car purchase intention.In our paper,Multi-variate logit model are used to verify the influencing factors of willingness to pay for waste reduction Firstly.Then Heckman model are used to verify it again.The result comparison of two kinds of model shows that the empirical result of Heckman is basically the same with that of Multi-variate logit model.The results shows that herd mentality,responsibility,environmental knowledge,perception about wheather waste was handled effectively will have influence on the willingness to pay for waste reduction.Herd mentality,environmental knowledge,perception about wheather waste was handled effectively,perception for environmental polltution,distance from waste collection facility to home,male,age,area is wheather east,family total income,whether to have a car have influencing fators on payment for waste reduction.To study the decision-making of car purchase,I used probit model and bivariate probit model to empirically analyze the purchase intention of low-emission cars and new energy vehicles.It turns out that in comparision to the single-variate probit model,the bivariate probit model is more effective,in terms of variance.Among the main variables studied of Fuel cost,car emissions,perception for environmental polltution have a significant impact on the purchase intention of low-emission cars.While Implement of policy subsidies,infrastructure about new energy vehicle,oil price rising,and recognition about new energy vehicle have influencing factors on the purchase intention of new energy vehicle.The social demographic variables:age,education,and interaction of age and education have influencing affects on the purchase intention of low-emission cars and new energy vehicles.The government should enhance the residents' environmental awareness and improve the construction of the supporting infrastructure for new energy vehicles in order to reduce the carbon emissions and promote the low carbon development of the country.
