A Research On Young Women’s Lower Body Shape And The Fit Of Denim Jeans Based On 3D Scanning Data

As one of the representatives of the denim clothing,jeans have become one of the most popular must-have product in all consumer groups,especially the college students.Despite of higher rate of ownership,the fit of jeans has always been a big problem that bothers wearers,to which a considerable amount of research based on questionnaire survey has addressed.However,studies on the relationship between the lower body shape and jeans fit from the perspective of human body are rarely seen,therefore,the current basis for jeans fit study is in fact weak and insufficient.This study collected 85 anthropometric data of 179 women of 18 to 29 years old.By factor analysis,we extracted seven principal components to describe the lower body shape.The variance accumulation contribution to the overall variance was 72.24%.Thus we use hip size of the first principal component and the abdomen-hip difference of the second principal component as the main factors to classify the lower body shape.Through the experiment of jeans fit from 93 female subjects,we collected following: A)basic information of the subjects,their consumption habit and self-evaluation;B)key parts data of their lower body as well as their jeans;C)fit perceptual evaluation of their best-fit and worst-fit jeans.Based on the main measurement items,we divided the 93 female subjects by their hip size(slim,medium,and large)and their waist-hip difference(small,medium and large).Then we devided lower body shape into 9 types by combining these two factors.Also,we acquire the main area of the lower body with body satisfaction evaluationand eye mo vement data.In the end,we get regression equations between the main types of body shapes and corresponding fit jeans.Most of the coefficient of determinations of the 6 regression equations are above 0.85.
