Iron phase and activity of the iron-based catalysts were studied in this paper.Meanwhile two kinds of iron-based catalyst were prepared and used as catalysts for Shengli lignite liquefaction.The main contents and achievements of this study were as follows.The effect of catalyst catagories,solvent,atomsphere,temperature,pressure and S/Fe atomic ratio on iron phase and activity of the iron-based catalysts were investigated under hydro-liquefaction conditions.The following results were obtained.Iron oxide-hydroxides prepared in this study and commercially available Fe2O3 all transformed to Fe1-xS whose grain size order were as follows:β-FeOOH>y-FeOOH>α-FeOOH>Fe2O3.Hydrogen resource(Hydrogen and tetralin)was the necessary condition of the Fe1-xS formation.When both Hydrogen and tetralin existed in the sufidation process,the activity of Fe1-xS was higher than one of them existed.As the sulfidation temperature rised at 1MPa,the grain size of Fe1-xS increased over which liquefaction conversion and oil&gas yield of Shengli lignite increased at the beginning and then declined.Partial pressure of H2S was one of the critical factors for the generating of Fe1-xS.As the temperature increased,the grain size of Fe1-xS also increased with coal in reaction.The preparation of iron oxide-hydroxides and one supported catalyst and their catalytic activity for Shengli lignite were researched.The following results were obtained.F1,F2 and F3 prepared in this study were α-FeOOH,β-FeOOH and γ-FeOOH.The liquefaction conversion and oil&gas yield of Shengli lignite were respectively 84.20%and 57.51%overα-FeOOH at 400℃ which were 15.35%and 10.86%higher than without catalyst.The mixture of α-FeOOH and ferrous sulfated might produce one superacid similar with Fe2O3/SO42-which promoted the liquefaction of Shengli lignite at low temperature.When weight of iron in Ml was same,bigger of coal loading in the M1 would lead to the greater degree of dispersion which would result in better catalytic activity for Shengli lignite.The liquefaction conversion and oil&gas yield of Shengli lignite were respectively 80.10%and 62.85%under 1.11 of S/Fe atomic ratio over M1.Catalytic activity of catalysts prepared in this study were good for Shengli lignite liquefaction at 450℃,especially γ-FeOOH,with which the liquefaction conversion and oil&gas yield of Shengli lignite were respectively 85.60%and 62.74%.
