With the improvement of Wastewater Discharge Standard,membrane bioreactor(MBR)is considered as one of the most promising water treatment technology,which has been widely used in various industries of wastewater treatment.However,membrane fouling is still a major obstacle to the wide application of MBRs.Recent studies show that application of hybrid polymers in MBR could modify biomass characteristics artificially for alleviation of membrane fouling.In this study,constant pressure dead-end filtration unit was used for selecting filter aids.Effects of addition of four hybrid polymers:anionic polyacrylamide(A110),polyaluminium chloride(PAX),derivative of chitosan(Chitosan-HCl),hybrid poly-quaternary ammonium(PD-LY-1)on mitigation of membrane fouling in membrane bioreactors(MBR)were investigated respectively.The study also developed multi-functional hybrid polymers through recipes optimization and ways of dosing.The study results prove the effectiveness of trans-membrane pressure difference TMP reduction through dosing the selected hybrid polymers.One hybrid polymers blends with another according to proper proportion can greatly improve their effectiveness and reduce the cost simultaneously.The right amount of A110 and PAX distribution can improve the effectiveness of PAX to membrane fouling.The right amount of PAX and Chitosan-HCl can reduce the cost of hybrid polymers.The appropriate dosing method(low concentration of high frequency)of hybrid polymers can reduce membrane fouling and improve sludge characteristic.The determination of hybrid polymers ' s initial dose is necessary for alleviating the membrane fouling.The adding of hybrid polymers may reduce the activity of microorganisms in MBR,though it still can guarantee the water quality standard.
