Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers(PBDEs)and Dechlorane Plus(DPs)have been the field of focus in recent years. They are kinds of widespread used brominated and chlorinated flame retardants in the world with the typical characteristics of Persistent Organic Pollutants(POPs),including the persistence, bioaccumulation and long-range atmospheric transport.Considering the possibly important role of the habitation and living habits of biota,we examined the levels of PBDEs(including BDE-28,-47,-99,-153,-154 and-183),and investigated the specific tissue distribution in various tissues of domestic poultry(Gallus domesticus and Anas platyrhynchos domesticus),and further explored the diversity of bioaccumulation and transformation among terrestrial biota. This study was highly significant in fully understanding the tissue distribution, maternal transfer and mono-dechlorinated metabolic capacity of DPs in biota. The main results of this study were as follows.First, six PBDEs congener were frequently detected in various tissues which were collected from the e-waste recycling area.,and the levels of PBDEs found in E-waste dismantling areas in Taizhou were significantly higher than that in other poultry from general areas.Second,The concentrations of PBDEs(wet weight,ww)were insignificantly related to tissue lipid content(p>0.05),in this study, indicating that the lipid content in various tissue was not the only factors that impacted the distribution of PBDEs in poultry.Third,Compared with the liver and muscle tissues, the lowest levels of PBDEs were observed in the brain tissues, indicating the blood-brain barrier worked efficiently to suppress these compounds entering brain tissues in this species.Furthermore,L/F ratios revealed that PBDEs more inclined to accumulated in the fat tissue than in the liver tissue.Besides, the rank of the abundance of PBDEs congeners were as: BDE-183 > BDE-153>BDE-99 > BDE-47 >BDE-154 > BDE-28.Our study, combined with the previous published literature, have revealed the diversities of the tissue distribution and maternal transfer of PBDEs and DPs in terrestrial biota. However, the detailed mechanisms about the transformation and migration of PBDEs in biota were sill not clear. For example, selective enrichment PBDEs occurred in the fat tissue.and stomach, while not tended to accumulate in the brain tissue.Further studies still required in order to clarify the cause resulting in the diversities.PBDEs and DPs toxicity data are scarce, and the health effects of them on biota have not been confirmed.Researches on toxic effects are also needed to evaluate the exposure risk of biota to PBDEs and DPs.
