MC nylon has the advantages of simple preparation process,high molecular weight,excellent performance and wide application scope,and so on.However,comparing to metal,owing to the common MC nylon its poor toughness,poor wear-resisting and self-lubricating and bad thermal stability,the usefulness of MC nylon products is still limited.Therefore,in order to satisfy the actual requirement,we have to study on modification of MC nylon.According to these problems,the synergistic modification of MC nylon with graphene oxide and ultra high molecular weight polyethylene was studied.Firstly,GO was modified by glycidyl trimethyl ammonium chloride(GTMAC)in this paper and MC nylon/GO-GTMAC composites were obtained by anionic polymerization in situ polymerization.The properties of the composites were studied by XRD,TGA,DMA,mechanical testing,friction test and so on.The results showed that the thermal stability,mechanical properties and friction and wear properties of the composites were the best when the content of GO-GTMAC was 0.2 wt%.Compared with neat MC nylon,excepting for a slight decrease in flexural strength,impact strength,tensile strength and compressive strength of the composites were increased by 8.9 %,5.1 % and 22 %,respectively,and coefficient of friction also decreased 24.2 %,and the glass of the transition temperature(Tg)increased 6 ?.Then,different proportions of GO and UHMWPE were utilized to modified MC nylon composites.However,there are significant differences in the structure of MC nylon and UHMWPE.So the compatibility is very poor.Therefore,the UHMWPE grafted maleic anhydride(UHMWPE-g-MAH)was prepared by a double roller mixing mechanism,and the UHMWPE grafted GO(GO-g-UHMWPE)/UHMWPE was prepared via a ring opening reaction between UHMWPE-g-MAH and GO-GTMAC.Then,the different content of GO-g-UHMWPE/UHMWPE was added to prepare MC nylon composites.The compatibility between UHMWPE and MC nylon matrix was studied by means of SEM,contact angle and DMA.The analysis results show that the addition of GO-g-UHMWPE/UHMWPE makes the compatibility between UHMWPE and MC nylon improved.At the same time,the mechanical and tribological properties of the composites can be improved by the addition of UHMWPE.When the content ofGO-g-UHMWPE/UHMWPE was 0.0615 wt%,the impact strength of the composite significantly increased 94.1%,the friction coefficient dropped to 0.40(reduced by 39.4 %),and the abrasion quantity and wear trace width decreased with the adding of GO-g-UHMWPE/UHMWPE.At the same time,UHMWPE played an obstructive role in the escape of volatile substances,so the thermal stability of the composites was significantly improved.Therefore,utilizing GO and UHMWPE to modify MC nylon composite was the better method to meet the actual requirements.
