The demand for wood products has increased year by year and the supply of forest resources are in short.Therefore,rational use of wood resources and reducing the waste of resources is particularly important.Over 50% wood product problems are caused by excessive size and moisture content.Size and moisture content are key parameters in the wood inspection process.This task mainly studies the on-line detection and sorting control of slab size and moisture content,to achieve online,fast,non-contact detection and sorting of the wood size and moisture content.Firstly,it introduces the classic method and modern method,the European advanced production line characteristics about the moisture content of wood,the three-dimensional size detection method and research status about size of wood.According to the demand of the production line,the overall scheme of on-line detection and sorting control system of the slab size and moisture content is based in STM32 series microcontroller,The system uses a flat capacitance sensor to detect the moisture content of the slab,laser scanning identification bar code technology to detect slab thickness,image processing technology to measure the length and width of slab.This paper includes two parts: the hardware and software.the hardware section introduces the hardware structure of the system based on STM32 series microcontroller,which mainly includes signal conditioning circuit,laser scanning thickness detection circuit and communication unit.The software part includes the program design of dimension and moisture content detection,the program design of interface display,the program design of and sorting control.The overall design of the detection and sorting control system is completed.The detection experiments of moisture content,thickness,length and width are be conducted on 186mm* 75mm*12mm slab of America California cedar,and the test results were verified,The experimental results indicate that the research of the system can implement the non-contact detection salb size and moisture content,and it can reduce the man-made operation error,reduce manufacturing cost,improve the utilization rate of the slab in the actual production.
