In this paper,sub-micrometer Al2O3,ultrafine TiH2 and Ni powders were mixed with PEEK?poly-ether-ether-ketone?powders to prepare coated composite powder by spray drying,then the latter two kinds of coated composite powder mixed with Ti powders,re-spectively,in varying proportions.Al2O3-PEEK,TiN-PEEK and TiN-Ni-PEEK composite coatings were fabricated by plasma spraying those composite powders.The morphology and phase of composite powders and coatings were analyzed.Wear and corrosion resistance of composite coatings with PEEK addition were respectively tested and compared with pure Al2O3 or TiN coatings,respectively.Study results showed that:?1?The inerratic spherical and ellipsoidal composite powders were prepared by spray drying,in which most PEEK was coated by other smaller size powders.The composite powders were suitable for plasma spraying.?2?By plasma spraying,the fully coated PEEK can be stored in the composite coating.The PEEK phase in Al2O3 ceramic coatings played lubrication role.Compared with the Al2O3 coating,the friction coefficient of the Al2O3-PEEK composite coatings was lower,and their friction behavior was more stable;the corrosion potential of Al2O3-PEEK compo-site coating was higher,and the corrosion current density was lower than those of Al2O3ceramic coatings.?3?TiN-PEEK composite coatings prepared by spraying Ti-TiH2/PEEK powders con-tains of Ti3O phase.Among all the TiN-PEEK coatings,the coating prepared with 21 kW power had less micro-defects and the best density.Under the same load,the friction coeffi-cient of composite coatings were lower than that of TiN coating,especially the composite coating with 21 kW power was the lowest.?4?When Ni and PEEK were added to the TiN coating,the hardness of the coating de-creased and the toughness increased.The wear failure mechanism of TiN-Ni-PEEK compo-site coating was mainly fatigue wear and slight abrasive wear under loads of 30 N,while under loads of 40 N,the wear failure mechanism of the coating was fatigue wear.Com-pared with TiN coating,TiN-Ni-PEEK composite coating had a higher corrosion resistance.?5?The addition of PEEK improved the compactness of the coating and improve the comprehensive properties of the coating.
