Iraq Halfaya oilfield has great prospects for development due to its large oil reserves and high production rate. However, severe losses occurs frequently while drilling, which greatly restricts the exploitation, therefore,it is necessary to carry out leakage formation analysis in Halfaya oilfield, and form the leak proof technology for Halfaya oilfield.First of all,the formation pressure is predicted based on the data of field, losses data is analyzed using statistical method, and then the characteristics of easy loss formations are analyzed by logging interpretation.Secondly, the leakproof technology research is conducted in the aspect of casing program, drilling fluid, leak proof technology and measurements. And also,it is based on the analysis results of lost circulation and current design. From the aspect of casing program, casing level and setting depth are optimized, and then the technical feasibility analysis is conducted using Landmark software.Novel LCMs are prepared according to ideal packing theory and film sealing theory, and the property of the drilling fluid is optimized in terms of leakproof.Further, the displacement, the speed of drill string and casing RIH are standardized using Wellplan software, and the optimal leakproof technology and measurements are proposed based on the analysis results of the loss formations. The result shows that the pore and fracture are well developed in the formations of Halfaya oilfield. The severe loss formations can be sealed effectively on the premise of ensuring safety after casing program optimization. The novel LCMs can achieve the purpose of plugging the easy loss formations. And leakproof technology and measurements can provide a basis for leakproof while drilling in Iraq Halfaya oilfield.
