Micro-nanofabrication technology is one of the important research fields of modern high and new technology.Among them,the atomic force microscope(AFM)tip-based nanomechanical machining method has been proved as a feasible and powerful approach to fabricate nanostructures because of its low cost,precise spatial resolution,in situ imaging and environmental friendly.Polymers have become one of the most widely used basic materials because of their low cost,light weight and easy molding.Nanoripple patterns,which are actually the quasi-sinusoidal nanostructures perpendicular to the scanning direction,has been reported as a typical wear mode for most thermoplastic polymers.Its formation mechanism is not clear so far,and it is difficult to fabricate nanoripples with given period and amplitude.Besides,the size of nanoripples can be fabricated is limited to micro scale,which limits the application of nanoripples to a certain extent.Based on the above reasons,the formation mechanism of nanoripples and the effect of processing parameters on nanoripple’s morphology are studied in this paper,by taking an AFM as the processing and testing equipment,selecting the polycarbonate as the experimental sample for its good heat resistance and strong shock resistance.The specific research methods and contents are as follows:Fabricate nanoripple structures by using single scanning method.The formation condition of nanoripples is studied.The reciprocating motion of the AFM tip and the overlap time of trajectory is not less than two may be critical factors for the formation of the ripple structure.By studying the fabricating process of nanoripple structures,and the internal morphology of nanoripple structures with the help of transmission electron microscope(TEM),the formation process of nanoripple structures is studied.Fabricate nanoripple structures by using single scanning method and study the influence of machining parameters on surface morphology of nanoripple structures by single factor method,in order to lay the foundation for fabricating nanoripple structures with given period and amplitude.Based on the single scanning method,by combining the millimeter scale worktable with the AFM system,fabricate nanoripple structures with millimeter scale.Colorizing on titanium surface by coating titanium film on the surface of nanoripple structures,which lays the foundation for expanding the application of nanoripple structures.
