Research On Brick And Roof Tile Of The Traditional Architecture In Coastal Area Of Southern Fujian

Bricks and roof tiles mainly includes the construction of ground,wall and roof tiles of the traditional buildings.The brick and tile are the protective components of the timber frame construction and play a key role in the functions such as sheltering wind,shelter,comfort and space,it is also an important element of the appearance of ancient architecture.Influenced by a variety of historical,cultural and natural elements,the coastal areas of southern Fujian have developed distinctive features of the ground,walls and roof tiles.Under the impact of modern technology and crafts of other area,the inheritance of its construction skills has been destroyed.In addition,there are few research results on bricks and roof tiles in the coastal areas of southern Fujian,and it is often impossible to find the basis for the design and construction of protection and repairs,it has become an urgent task to carry out comprehensive research on it as soon as possible.Through combing the existing research,investigating state-level and provinciallevel cultural relics protection units,part of municipal protection units and historic villages and traditional villages,keeps track of traditional building renovation projects and interviews with outstanding craftsmen,starting from the aspects of materials,types and construction techniques,systematically collate and summarize the ground paving,wall masonry and roof tiles in the coastal areas of southern Fujian.First,on the basis of field research data,the author combed the patterns and specifications of brick and tiles.Secondly,analyzed the brick and tile structures in the ground,walls and roofs,and compare the construction types,geographical differences and other aspects.Thirdly,record the tools and construction techniques of traditional bricks and tiles.Finally,analyze the strategies for dealing with specific natural environments in the bricks and roof tiles of the southern Fujian,consider and summarize the problems existing in the current renovation and the inheritance of skills so as to provide references for the future research,heritage protection and contemporary architectural design.
