The bio-treated landfill leachate was with high color and usually contains hundreds mg COD per liter.It also contains complicated organic pollutants,many of them were refractory and has a MW smaller than 1000,which were hard to be treated by the biological treatment process.The ozone oxidation could efficiently remove the COD and color,however,the large ozone dose and high cost limited its application.The active carbon?AC?and metal oxide loaded active carbon?MOLAC?were used to catalyze the ozone oxidation of the bio-treated landfill leachate,and the result showed that they could significantly improve the oxidation capability and utilization efficiency of ozone.The Ce oxide load active carbon fiber was used to treat the bio-treated landfill leachate,72.8%TOC was removed from the landfill leachate contain 162 mg/L TOC under the following conditions,oxidation dose was 4.1 mgO3/mgTOC,oxidation time was 120 min,which had an improvement of 41.9%compared with 30.9%TOC removal efficiency of direct ozone oxidation.The catalyzed oxidation process accorded with the characteristic of second order reaction kinetics with the apparent reaction rate constant was 1.65which was 8 times higher than that of direct ozone oxidation?0.22?.These results implied the good performance of the catalysis of the MOLAC.In the pilot scale experiment,COD removal efficiency achieved 57%under the ozone dose of 250 mg/L and oxidation time of 60 min,however,only 37%of COD was removed by the direct ozone oxidation.For the TOC reduction capability was improved from 0.39 mgCOD/mgO3 to 0.61 mgCOD/mgO3 by the MOLAC.The cyclic active carbon fiber catalyzed ozone biological aerated filter removed 75%COD and 95%chroma from the bio-treated landfill leachate,the water quality of the effluent reached the standard for pollution control on the landfill site of municipal solid waste?GB-16889-2008?,the COD and chroma was lower than 60 mg/L and 20times,respectively,additionally,the cost of was 9.87 RMB/m3.
