A Study On Georges Labica's Ecological Marxism

With the continuous development of economic globalization,ecological problems have become one of the new global prominent problems.Ecological Marxism emerged as one of the most influential thought in Contemporary Western Marxism since the 1960 s.With this issue attracted wide attention from Chinese and Western scholars,the representative figure Georges Labica used Marx's criticism principle to explore the contemporary ecological problems.This paper concludes the main ideas of Labica's Ecological Marxism,in order to comprehensively build China's socialist ecological civilization innovated ideas and put forward feasibility suggestions.Labica's Eological Marxism is based on the Marx Principle.Labica puts forward the Ecological Socialism as the combination of the ecological movement and the workers' movement.He extreamly criticise the undemocracy of capitalist countries and hold the idea that the revolution and democracy can't be separable.Also,he denies the market economy.This paper is divided into four chapters to intoduce Labica's thought.The first chapter explains the background and significance of the thesis,a brief account of Labica's life,the current research states,and the research methods of the thesis.The second chapter introduces the origin of Labica's ecological thought.The third chapter introduces Labica's Ecological Marxism from three aspects,the criticism of the capitalist ecological crisis,the ecological socialism is the way out of the ecological crisis,and the way of realizing the Ecological Socialism.This part also clarifies that the Ecological Socialism should adhere to the principle of Marxism.In essence,the real socialism is Ecological Socialism,and the socialism will surpass the capitalism sooner or later.Labica's thought not only strengthens the belief of socialism,but also broadens the vision of exploring the road of socialist development.The fourth chapter explains Labica's theoretical contributions and shortcomings.We can absorb the essence and discard the dregs of Labica's thought to build our harmonious society.Labica's Ecological Marxism based on the Marx doctrine,combining the social system and ecological problems to explore the existing problems of the contemporary capitalist society.He criticizes capitalism,and thinks that the market economy also means capitalism,so he completely negates the market economy.He againsts the capitalist hypocrisy democracy and advocates a non violent revolution,but his assertion of the revolutioon's conditions are biased.He againsts ecological colonization and advocates the reconstruction of global ecological consciousness,butLabica doesn't define a clear definition of Ecological Socialism.There is no specific description about the picture of the Ecological Society.He focuses on the theoretical criticism a lot but still lacks of real effective strategies.
