Research And Development Of A Health Food,Lutein Soft Capsule For Eye Fatigue Alleviation

BackgroundVisual fatigue is a common and frequently-occurring ophthalmic disease worldwide with a high incidence rate.Since economics and technology continue developing,the incidence of visual fatigue increases year by year.Today,both physical and drug therapies towards visual fatigue meet a lot of problems such as limited efficacy,single efficacy and risk of injure and infection.Therefore,developing an efficient,safety health food to alleviate visual fatigue symptoms has become urgent.Research ObjectiveThe aim of this study is to establish a formulation to evaluate scientific,security,efficient healthfood to alleviate visual fatigue symptoms for the current market demand.Research MethodSelection of the active ingredients and nutrient ingredients were based on modern life science,modern nutrition science and modern Chinese medicine theories.The dosage of each item for formulation was on light of the guild regulations of raw materials for health food and“Dietary Nutrient Reference Intake of Chinese Residents?2013?”,and was measured by phenol-sulfuric acid spectroscopy,the main active ingredient was analysed by HPLC method.The safety of compound was carrie out by toxicological determination,according to the“Technical Specification for Health Food Inspection and Evaluation?2003?”.The efficacy and safety of lutein soft capsule was followed on the“Method for the Assessment of Alleviating Eye Fatigue Function”.Research results1.The formula of the lutein soft capsule includeds lutein,Lycium chinense fruit extract,Dendrobium candidum extract,Rehmannia glutinosa Libosch extract,VE,VB₁,VB₂,flaxseed oil and beeswax for this study was well established.2.The results of present study showed that the content of lutein,a key ingredient,in the lutein soft capsule was 1.970g/100g;the active content of lycium barbarum polysaccharides was 0.926g/100g;the active content of dendrobium candidum polysaccharides was 0.747g/100g,the active content of rchmannia glutnosa polysaccharides was 0.880g/100g.3.The results of toxicological determination show the lutein soft capsules contents has no toxicity,no obvious mutagenic effect to the rats,and has no obvious damage to the liver,kidney,spleen,testis and ovary of the rats.4.The results of function evaluation showed the lutein soft capsules improved the symptom total integral effectively,and the total efficacy rate was 35.3%,the efficacy rate of other symptoms was 68.6%of visuognosis persistence,67.5%of ophthalmodynia,59.5%of photophobia,60.0%of blurred vision,51.6%of dry eyes,50.0%of foreign body sensation,40.0%of tearing and 40.2%of general malaise.Howerve there was no significant effect on vision.Taken all data together suggested that the lutein soft capsule would be safe healthfood,and might be benefit on alleviating visual fatigue.ConclusionThe present study preliminarily set up a formulation of health food to alleviate vissual fatigue.This novel formulated food would increase current treatment efficacy and reduce the risk of injure or infection.
