Traditional continuous casting equipment operation training is mainly based on theoretical study and field practice. It is difficult to carry out large-scale training for long time due to the operation cost of the equipment and the risk factors of the field. Therefore,a continuous casting system based on virtual reality is designed and developed.Continuous casting system is the application of virtual reality interaction technology in continuous casting operation training field, which meets the needs of steel plant employees and metallurgical majors in continuous casting equipment operation practice.Interactive technology is of great significance to promote the effective interaction between the learners and the training system and to meet the requirements of the training of the continuous casting operation skills. On the basis of analyzing the demand of the system, the overall function structure and interactive mode of the continuous casting system are designed. In order to enhance the immersion of virtual reality environment, the development technology of virtual reality based on Unity3 D is studied, including 3D modeling and 3D sound effects.HTC Vive helmet and handle are used as controller of 3D display device and scene interaction.According to the operating characteristics of the continuous casting equipment, the operation method of continuous casting equipment based on gesture recognition and collision detection is proposed.Hand gesture recognition and related hardware technology are studied.Leap Motion is used as a collection device for hand gesture data. The system operation gestures are defined and the feature vectors of gesture recognition are determined. The related machine learning algorithm of gesture recognition is studied, and the SVM classifier is used to carry out the gesture recognition. On the basis of the study of collision detection algorithm,a collision detection method based on ray method and bounding box method is proposed. In order to enable several learners to operate equipment in the same virtual scene,a network communication module of distributed virtual reality is designed. The network structure and communication protocols are researched and determined, the client interactive data sending and receiving based on PUN and Photon Server are designed, and the server data distribution and management program is designed. The system is based on Unity3 D and HTC Vive to implement the virtual continuous casting environment construction and roaming function. The gesture recognition function is realized based on Leap Motion and SVM classifier. The recognition accuracy is up to 96.2%,and the operation function of virtual continuous casting device is realized by collision detection. The cooperative training of several learners in the same scene is realized by using the network communication technology.Based on SQL Server 2014,the data management function and interactive instruction function of the system are realized. The continuous casting system provides a new way for the training of continuous casting equipment through effective and natural human-computer interaction.
