Converter dust is by-product of converter steelmaking process in the steel plant.The renewable resource of converter dust is used as the pigment and filler of high solid anticorrosive coatings,and the properties of the coating is also studied.The influence of the size of dust,the ratio of pigments and the amount of diluent on the properties of the coatings is mainly investigated in the preparation process of the coatings,and the effect of dust particle size,dust amount and oxide on the properties of corrosion resistance is investigated.Ultimately,the best formula for the preparation of high solid fraction anticorrosive coatings is determined.The particle size distribution and composition of converter dust are analyzed through scanning electron microscopy(SEM),laser particle analyzer and fluorescence spectrometer.The results show that the particle size of converter dust is less than 60?m,one half is less than 20?m and average particle size is only 19.68?m.The converter dust contains carbon and other oxides such as iron,calcium,magnesium.The preparation of high-solid corrosion protective coatings is determined by orthogonal text,and the effect of diluents dosage,dust particle size,dust consumption,and additive oxide on coatings performance is studied.Research shows that the apparent and high-solid properties of coatings rise with the decrease of dust size.The dust of less than 60?m is determined as the main text materials according to the process of dust screening.The comprehensive properties of coatings are excellent when the ratio of ring resin E-51 to pigment and filler is 1:1 and the diluent dosage of benzyl alcohol is 10% of the epoxy resin.The size of the pores on the surface of the film varies with the particle size of the dust.The smaller the particle size,the more smooth the coating is.The addition of Mg O and Cr2O3 can improve the corrosion resistance of the coating,especially after adding Mg O,the salt resistance of the coating is greatly improved.With the increase of Cr2O3,the salt resistance and acid resistance of the coating are stronger and stronger.
