| The mechanical properties,thermal properties and others of polycarbonate/acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer(PC/ABS)composite,which are reinforced by short-cut polyimide fiber,are studied in this paper.The preliminary work of this experiment is mainly aimed at the surface modification of polyimide fiber,and found a more suitable method for surface modification of polyimide fiber.First,polydopamine is coated on the surface of polyimide fiber,and then carboxyl-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes are added onto the surface of polyimide fiber(PI-MWCNTs),so as to enhance the interfacial bonding property of polyimide fiber and PC/ABS alloy substrate.This successful surface decoration is confirmed by scanning electron microscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,Fourier-transform infrared microscopy and static water contact angle.The performance of PC/ABS composite reinforced by modified polyimide fiber with different content and length are studied in the later work.After the comparison of mechanical properties,the performance of PI-MWCNTs fiber,which with a length of 3 mm,reinforced PC/ABS composite is better.Besides,with the increase of the fiber content,the PC/ABS composites mechanical properties,thermal properties,dynamic mechanical properties are also improved.When the mass fraction of PI-MWCNTs fiber is 20 wt.%,and the length is 3 mm,compared to PC/ABS alloy,the tensile strength of PC/ABS composites increased by 164%,the tensile modulus increased by 69%,the bending strength increased by 125%,the flexural modulus increased by 213%,the heat distortion temperature increased by 17.4 degrees Celsius,and the Vicat softening point temperature increased by 9.3 degrees Celsius.It shows that the performance of the PI-MWCNTs fiber reinforced PC/ABS composites has been greatly enhanced.This significant reinforcement effect is attributed to the enhancement of interaction bonding strength between the PI fibers and matrix as a result of the surface decoration of PI fibers with MWCNTs. |
