Direct fuel cells, with the feature of high transportation effect, low environmental pollution and ease of handling, are considered as a promising green energy. In order to realize the widely application of the fuel cells,it is necessary to develop efficient catalysts for the fuel cells. As known, noble metals(Pt and Pd)are good materials for fuel cells as anode catalysts. However, the high cost and intermediate poisoning(such as CO)of pure metal catalysts hindered the development of fuel cells. To reduce the cost and improve the catalytic properties of catalysts, researchers have focused on the following aspects to study the catalysts:1.Introducing the second or the third metal(such as Sn,Ni,and Ag)to decorate the noble catalysts can improve the catalytic effect;2.Using supporting material(such as nitrogen-doped graphene)can enhance the conductivity of catalysts,so as to optimize the catalytic activity;3.Preparing the porous structure catalysts can increase the specific area and active site of catalysts.Taking the above three points into consideration, different methods have been employed to prepare Pt based catalysts,N-doped graphene supported Pd-based catalysts, porous structure Pd based catalysts. The electrocatalytic performance of the as-prepared catalysts towards ethanol oxidation has been explored in detail.
