Traditional spiral groove machining is done by universal lathe after multiple turnings.This method is not only inefficient,but also has great energy consumption and labor intensity.The CNC transformation of machine tools can enable enterprises to obtain considerable economic benefits.Therefore,it is necessary to carry out numerical control transformation of the traditional scrap lathes.The main research task of this dissertation is to transform a universal and wasted lathe into a CNC whirlwind milling machine specially designed for milling large thread grooves.This article first introduced the research status of domestic and foreign threaded cyclone milling technologies and equipments.After analyzing the technical requirements to be achieved after transformation,the overall design plan for the key parts of the mechanical transmission and control system was proposed,and the problems that may arise during the transformation were investigated.Then,the key components of the mechanical transformation were designed and calculated,including the formulation of the transmission plan,the remanufacturing of the machine tool guide rails,the selection of three feed direction ball screw nut pairs,stepping motors and the assembly drawings of three feed motions were drawn.Finally,the design of the control system's hardware circuit is closely related to the input and output of the system.According to the requirements of the transformation,the control system master board schematic diagram and the display keyboard schematic diagram are designed with the aid of the single-chip microcomputer.On the software side,based on the point-by-point comparison interpolation principle,a helical slot interpolation block diagram is drawn,and a source program is written.At the end of the paper,each chip was debugged and the correctness of the helical slot interpolation procedure was verified.The example of converting a universal lathe into a three-axis CNC cyclone milling machine shows that the remanufacturing of the machine tool has certain feasibility.At the same time,the transformed machine tool can improve the machining efficiency and machining accuracy.From the perspective of economy and environment,the whirlwind after the numerical control transformation is realized.Milling machines can reduce labor costs,reduce energy consumption,and comply with the concept of green design and manufacturing.
