Energy conservation and emission reduction is an important content of the construction of ecological civilization.To adhere to innovation-driving development and to realize the economic transformation are the main approaches to achieve energy conservation and emission reduction.Based on the price control,administrative regulation and other traditional way,China’s eco-innovation provide a new direction and new idea to catalyze the benign interaction between economy and environment.Under the eco-innovation mechanism,how to maximize the potential of energy conservation and emission reduction takes on substantial significance.So this paper investigates the impact of eco-innovation on carbon emission in China from two aspects: the market mechanism innovation and the spillover of industrial agglomeration’s innovation.To quantitatively estimate the effect of eco-innovation on carbon emission reduction,this paper uses the Dynamic Panel Data Model(SGMM)to estimate and compare the dynamic difference on the effect of eco-innovation on carbon emissions in China in different period;based on this result,this paper employs the Propensity Score Matching method(PSM)as well as Difference in Difference(DID)to evaluate the policy effect of China’s carbon emissions trading.In order to explore the spatial spillover of China’s hi-tech industrial eco-innovation,this paper builds three kinds of spatial regression model(SAR,SEM and SARAR)to evaluate the spillover of hi-tech industrial eco-innovation of 30 provinces from 2000 to 2015 in the whole country,eastern,central and western China,respectively.The results indicate that: First,most eco-innovation variables exert significant impact on carbon emissions reduction in China during 2000-2013.In particular,energy efficiency,R&D economic contribution,informationisation level and patent output level exert essential effect on carbon emissions abatement.Besides,the carbon abatement ability of R&D economic contribution and patent output level are enhanced during 2006-2013 compared to 2000-2005.Second,the carbon emission trading is preliminary implemented,however,it significantly influences on carbon emissions abatement in China to some extent.Finally,to increase the R&D inputs,improve the patent output level and cultivate the re-creation level of hi-tech industry are the main means to decrease the carbon emission during 2000-2015;whether is the wholecountry,eastern,central and western in China,the hi-tech industrial agglomeration and carbon emissions have a U-shape relationship.The trend of carbon emission firstly decreased and then increased.To sum up,the National Development and Reform Commission(NDRC)and the regional government should increase the input of eco-innovation elements,improve the ability of independent innovation,coordinate various environmental policies,cultivate a eco-environment and speed up the technological transformation of hi-tech enterprises.In short,China needs to rely on the eco-innovation mechanism as an endogenous driving force to achieve sustainable development.Additionally,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to explore the impact of eco-innovation on carbon emission in China.On the one hand,this paper improves and enriches the existing research of eco-innovation.On the other hand,this paper provides useful references and policy suggestions for China’s energy conservation and emission reduction,so as to ensure the overall objective of the long-term energy conservation and emission reduction.
