Alkyd resin coating is the earliest development and the most widely used polyester coating,which has been occupied a quite big market in the coating industry.However,the traditional oil-soluble alkyd coating contains a lot of organic solvents.Sometimes,organic solvents dilution will pollute the environment and affect the health of construction workers during the construction process which needs add it for dilution.Compared with the traditional oil-soluble alkyd resin,water-based alkyd resin can greatly reduce the use of the organic solvents,And reduce the damage to the environment and the fire accident caused by the organic solvents.However,the drying performance and water resistance of waterborne alkyd resin are worse than that of the traditional alkyd resin,resulting in the promotion restrictions of water-based coating.Therefore,the modification of water-based alkyd is one of the most important issues at home and abroad.In this paper,the synthesis process of alkyd resin and the preparation method of water-based alkyd resin were studied.The water-based alkyd resin was modified by the mixture of acrylic monomer containing crosslinking monomer.The crosslinked waterbased acrylic acid modified alkyd resin coating was synthesized.The affecting factors of the resin synthesis and the coating performance were also analyzed.A double crosslinked waterborne acrylic acid modified alkyd resin was prepared.The main work is as follows:The fatty acid,trimethylol propane(TMP)and the polybasic acid mixture were used to synthesize the alkyd resin by esterification.Followed by,the trimellitic anhydride(TMA)was reacted with the alkyd resin to obtain awaterborne alkyd resin.According to the characteristics of reaction of the alkyd resin synthesis process,the synthesis process was optimized.The optimum conditions were as follows: firstly,the optimum amount of linolenic,soyaicacid,trimethylol propane,phthalic acid,maleic anhydride and xylene were added into the four-necked flask which was equipped with stirrer,condenser,temperature control equipment and water separator,and stirred under nitrogen.Secondly,the temperature was raise to 170? for 1h,after that,the temperature was raised 10 ?every hour until it raised to 210?.When the temperature was up to 210 ?,the acid value was measured every 30 min.Thirdly,when the acid value reached the standard,the temperature was decreased to 150 ? and the xylene was extract filtrated.When the suction filtration of xylene was over,the temperature was raise to 170 ? and TMA was added at the same time.Finally,when the acid value reached the theoretical value,decreased the temperature and add appropriate amount of propylene glycol methyl ether for dilution and stand by application.The effects of various factors on water resistance,drying rate and coating performance of waterborne alkyd resin were investigated.The final formula was determined by using trimethylol propane with pentaerythritol 3:1,soybean oil and linolenic acid 1:1,phthalic anhydride,maleic anhydride,the final acid ester was 5-10 mg KOH / g of alkyd resin,and 8% TMA.The waterborne alkyd resin contained 50% oil.The relative molecular mass was 1600.The final water-based alkyd had ahydroxyl functionality of 1.The self-made water-based alkyd resin was modified with the acrylic acid mixture containing the crosslinking monomer.The finally the acrylic resin quality accounted for60% of the quality of alkyd resin.The amount of diacetone acrylamide(DAAM),BPO and styrene were 6%,2.5% and 15% of the total amount of the acrylate monomer,respectively.The modified resin had high performance.Infrared wave analysis showed that the crosslinking monomer in the modified resin had been crosslinked.The partical size analysis shows that the addition of monomer could improve the water solubility of the modified resin.The dispersion properties of the modified resin and the characteristics after film formation were also studied.The self-made modified resin was prepared as an waterborne metal anti-rust coating.The water-based metal anti-rust paint has a good performance by using iron red pigment and the ratio was 60%,dispersant and wetting agent was 0.8%,and the amount of the defoaming agent and the thickener agent was 0.3%.
