Abstract/Summary:
In this paper,Citral modified IIR(CTAIIR)was prepared by method of bulk modified in rubber processing equipment with the modified system of NaH/Citral(CTA).Two double bonds and a hydroxyl group were introduced into the macromolecular chain of butyl rubber.Firstly,active points were generated by the reaction of NaH and macromolecule chain of IIR.Then,citral reacted with the active sites on the macromolecular chains.Excellent properties of butyl rubber were maintained,vulcanization rate was effectively improved,co-vulcanized with other rubbers were increased.A series of CTAIIRs were prepared by altering reaction temperature,reaction time and the ratio of NaH/CTA.Vulcanization performance,physical and mechanical properties were investigated to make sure the optimum reaction conditions and the best ratio of NaH/CTA of CTAIIR.The performances of CTAIIR were further in-depth studied under the optimal reaction conditions and the best ratio.The molecular structure of CTAIIR was characterized by infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),characterized by gel permeation chromatography(GPC)and NMR spectra(’H-NMR).The dynamic mechanical performance of the CTAIIR was explored by RPA.The thermal performance was examined by DMA,TG and DSC.The vulcanization formulations of CTAIIR were initially studied.Different impact of S,TT and DM amount on the performance and dynamic mechanical properties of CTAIIR was analyzed.The fit performance of CTAIIR/NR was examined.IIR can be successfully modified by bulk method.CTA structure was successfully introduced into macromolecular chains.Modifier citral reaction efficiency gradually increased with the molar amount increases.Vulcanization rate of CTAIIR was greatly improved,but the physical and mechanical properties slightly reduced.NaH reaction time of 20min,the Citral reaction time of 25min at 100℃,molar ratio of NaH/Citral/C=C at 0.5/0.5/1 were the optimum reaction conditions.CTAIIR prepared under the best modified formula improved the vulcanization rate of the butyl rubber.And its tensile strength,thermal stability properties and the glass transition temperature were the same with the raw materials IIR.The molecular weight wasn’t showed a significant reduction.Through its vulcanization formula research found that when S,TT,DM,was respectively 2phr,1phr,0.6phr,CTAIIR had the maximum apparent crosslinking density.When the amount of TT,DM,S was respectively lphr,0.9phr,2phr,CTAIIR/NR had the best fitting,the largest peel strength was 0.857N/mm.
