| It’s an significant research direction to improve paper properties by making paper have hydrophobic properties which is used in food packaging and product packaging in refrigeration storage,etc.Foods may be deteriorated because paper used in packaging food is easy affected with damp;The compressive strength and bursting strength of cartons will decline significantly because cartons which have been removed from refrigeration storage is easy infiltrated.the definite hydrophobic properties can be provided by foilling film and modifying paper surface sizing agent using fluorine or silicone which usually can be considered as familiar methods.However the negative factors still exist such as high production costs,complex technology,environmental pollution and difficult to reuse,etc.Therefore,it’s worth to seek a simple and effective method to achieve waterproof.Sizing agent modification with polypropylene wax(WPP)is a new way to make paper obtain hydrophobic effect in this subject.First of all,The WPP that has been grafted was emulsified with a kind of compound emulgator.After that the complex latexes are obtained by mixing two component latexes between the modified WPP emulsions and paper sizing agents with different proportions,and the impact of modified WPP to paper sizing agent and coatings properties were probed.And finally the modified sizing agent will be applied in paper coating.The coating properties of the modified WPP,the modified WPP emulsions,and the complex latexes are investigated by IR,DSC,TG,XRD,DLS,Optical Picroscopy and Rotary Rheometer.The conclusions show that the modified WPP can be emulsified and a great stable complex latexes are obtained by mixing the modified WPP emulsion and paper sizing agent.The hydrophobicity and surface morphology of different coatings are investigated by Contact Angle Measurements,Polarizing Microscopy,Optical Microscopy,Atomic Force Microscopy(AFM).The conclusions show that the coatings are covered with the modified WPP uniformly which transfer to the surface of the coatings to fabricate low-surface-energy and construct roughness. |
