Bromate,which is defined as level 2B(with higher carcinogenic potential),is a kind of dubious carcinogen to humans.For drinking water disinfected by ozone,the hazard that concentration of bromate exceeds limit becomes higher because of oxidized bromide.Therefore,the concentration of bromate was strictly limited to 1?g/L according to the standard of China and other developed countries.Furthermore,ion chromatography was used as a standard detection method.However,establishing a fast,simple,and low-cost detection method still needs to be further studied.In this research,we summarized the source,hazard and research status of bromate in drinking water.Based on a series of experimental research,we provided a new technology of fast detection bromate in drinking water.The results of investigation included:synthesized the Mg/Al Layered double hydroxides(CLDIH);studied adsorptive property of CLDH to BrO3-;optimized the elution conditions;found a highly sensitive fading reaction.According to researches above,we established a new method to detect bromate in drinking water rapidly.Furthermore,we designed an adsorption column specially for bromate,optimized elutent and color reaction solution.After that,made a color disk.Finally,we developed a fast detection kit for bromate in drinking water.The main results are as follows:(1)Synthesized the Mg/Al Layered double hydroxides(CLDH),which can adsorb BrO3-efficiently,and researched the adsorptive property of CLDH to BrO3-.The test results showed that the synthesized CLDH has a high adsorption capacity to BrO3-(0.5g CLDH on adsorption rate of 95%per lmg BrO3-);the static adsorption of CLDH to BrO3-achieved the adsorption equilibrium in 30min.(2)Determined the eluent with the efficient elution ability to BrO3-adsorbed by CLDH through experiment(4mol/L NaCl)and optimized the best elution conditions(the elution volume was 5mL,the elution time was 7min).(3)Determined the specification of adsorption column.The inside diameter of adsorption column was 26mm,the volume of adsorption column was 75mL;the aperture of sieve plate used by glass sand core was 40-80?m and the amount of filled adsorbent(100-120mesh)was 1.2g.(4)Selected methylene blue as the indicator for the fading reaction that methylene blue with BrO3-in acidic environment,through optimization,determined the color-fading reaction condition which was suitable for visual color comparison.(5)Developed a rapid detection kit of bromate in drinking water,which consists of adsorption column,elution agents,indicator,colorimetric card,etc.The technology and kit for fast detection bromate in drinking water we developed have the following characteristics:fast,simple,low-cost,as well as on-site detection,which is of great positive significance to the control of production quality for the enterprises,to the supervision of government departments,and to ensure the safety of drinking water.
