| In recent years,with the development of portable appliances and zero-emission electric vehicle,people are looking for the high specific energy batteries to meet the requirements.Basically,the positive electrode active material of zinc/air battery is the oxygen in the air,and the negative electrode active material is zinc.In theory,the positive electrode capacity is unlimited,so the new/air battery has a very high specific energy and the capacity of the battery depends on the zinc electrode.If we improve the utilization rate of the zinc electrode,then the discharge capacity will increase.There has been long time for using of mercury and mercury salts as zinc batteries inhibitor.Regardless to mercury and mercury salts good inhibition effect,they pose serious environmental pollution which could prevent its application.Therefore,it is particularly crucial to find a new kind of inhibitor without mercury to substitute it,through the production of mercury-free zinc/air battery.Through testing polarization curves,the study explores corrosion inhibition to zinc electrodes of five additives(Thiourea,Zinc oxide,Indium hydroxide,Cetyl Trimethyl Ammonium Bromide,and Hexamethylenetetramine)and nano-diamond under CMC,CARBOPOL and CMC/ND.The results show that it is better to add CMC to the electrolyte compared with CARBOPOL,while another test shows that adding nano-diamond make the corrosion worse.This article selected those five corrosion inhibitor as a mercury-free zinc/air battery anode recipes,and do discharge test to those batteries.First,testing discharge of those batteries with and without nano-diamond,the result shows that the batteries without nano-diamond have higher discharge.And then testing discharge of those batteries with different binders,they are CMC and CARBOPOL,the result shows that the batteries with CMC exhibited higher discharge.When the concentration for CMC was 2.0%,the maximum discharge of 150.5 ± 9.7 mA · h was reached.Additionally,we also studied the influence of electrolyte concentration on NaOH.We found that the optimal amount of discharge when the concentration was 40%.Last,we found the more we increased the amount of zinc the less discharge,so,we choose 20 g to do the negative electrode material.About the species of zinc,due to the milling the discharge has little difference between 2014 new zinc powder and 5.7-0-320 zinc powder.However,in the absence of ball milling,the new 2014 discharge was significantly higher than the 5.7-0-320 zinc,because those two zinc powder have different forms.It also made the short-circuit test to the selection of the recipe battery,and found that the battery does not appear leakage phenomenon shell burst after a certain time,and the discharge amount reaches the standard of commercially available,which indicating that the formula is feasible. |
