With the rapid growth of vehicle population, the road environment problems are more and more serious, leading they become people’s focus now.In addition, the road oil pollution is one of these problems, and its potential threat to environment is very big.Basing on the concept of environmental friendly road construction, the solution to this problem was put forward in this paper,in which the photocatalytic materials coated on the pavement surface can prevent or control oil pollution.First of all,an investigation about the situation of oil pollution on pavement was made. The results show that there are serious oil pollution on the urban road,so necessary measures should be taken to improve the road environment quality. At the same time, the indoor test method and the field test method were made according to actual situation before the research. In these above test methods, the petroleum matter and the COD were selected as indexes of evaluation.Meanwhile, the Nano-TiO2 was chosen as the test base material in the preparation. In the initial simulation test, the photocatalytic material dosage, light intensity, temperature and reaction time were selected as variables respectively, and then the influence of the above factors to oil removal efficiency was discussed in this paper. The results show that the oil degradation rate varies with the change of the test conditions. In addition, the photocatalytic materials dosage and light intensity have great influence on degradation effect. In the next simulation test, the research on photocatalytic degradation of road surface oil pollution was made on the basis of above conclusions,in which the photocatalytic material was coated on asphalt concrete pavement or cement concrete pavement test pieces by spaying and penetrating ways. The test result shows that, the oil pollution on these test pieces can be removed effectively, and the optimum photocatalytic material dosage applied on asphalt concrete pavement and cement concrete pavement are 7g/m2 and 5g/m2 respectivelyThrough these simulation tests in laboratory, the photocatalytic degradation effect of road surface oil pollution was studied in this paper. So the research result can provide a theoretical basis for the further research work, and it has great value to environmental protection in road engineering.
