In recent years,due to the strengthening of human environmental awareness as well as the issues of oil and energy are becoming increasingly prominent,the sources of raw materials have been attention.Natural polymer materials for its cheap,abundant resources,recyclable,biodegradable and renewable,reduce people's dependence on fossil resources.Combined the advantages of natural polymer materials and polymers,natural polymer composites as a kind of new environmental protection materials along the sometimes are becoming hot spots to attention and development.In this study,polypropylene/calcium alginate(PP/CA)composites were prepared using calcium alginate(CA)as modifier and polypropylene as matrix.Polypropylene/calcium alginate/silica(PP/CA/SiO2)hybrid materials were prepared by adding silica(SiO2)in calcium alginate.Polypropylene/intumescent flame retardant/calcium alginate(PP/IFR/CA)flame retardant materials were prepared by compounding intumescent flame retardant.The structural performance test was characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),universal testing machine,scanning electron microscopy(SEM),capillary rheometer,melt flow index tester,thermal gravimetric analysis(TGA),limiting oxygen Index(LOI),polarized optical microscopy(POM),differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)and other means.The mechanical properties of PP/CA composites are slightly lower than that of pure PP.Calcium alginate gel particles are uniformly dispersed in PP matrix,and the action is just physical between calcium alginate gel with PP.PP/CA composite is typical pseudoplastic fluid,and it has good thermal stability and water resistance.The degradation activation energy of PP is reduced,and the mass loss of PP is improved by the addition of calcium alginate gel.It is showed that the degradation of PP is improved.Burning resistance of PP/CA composites are decreased with the increased of calcium alginate gel content.Calcium alginate gel plays the role of heterogeneous nucleation,and it improves crystallization temperature and crystallization rate,and reduces crystallization activation energy.In order to improve the heat resistance of calcium alginate,calcium alginate/silica(CA/SiO2)double network gels were prepared using sol-gel method.silica inorganic material is introduced to determine the best scheme by orthogonal experiment.The mechanical property of calcium alginate/silica double network gel is a slight increase compared with calcium alginate,and it has good thermal stability and water absorption.The mechanical properties of PP/CA/SiO2 hybrid materials are slightly lower than that of pure PP.Calcium alginatel/silica double network gel particles are uniformly dispersed in PP matrix,and the action is just physical between calcium alginate/silica double network gel with PP.PP/CA/SiO2 hybrid material is typical pseudoplastic fluid,and it has good thermal stability and water resistance.The degradation activation energy of PP is reduced,and the mass loss of PP is improved by the addition of calcium alginate/silica double network gel.It is showed that the degradation of PP is improved.Burning resistance of PP/CA/SiO2 hybrid materials are decreased with the increased of calcium alginate/silica doube network gel content.Calcium alginate/silica doube network gel plays the role of heterogeneous nucleation,and it improves crystallization temperature and crystallization,and reduces crystallization activation energy.The mechanical properties of PP/IFR/CA flame retardant materials are slightly lower than that of pure PP.IFR and calcium alginate gel are uniformly dispersed in PP matrix.The melt flow index of PP/IFR/CA flame retardant materials is increased with the increased of IFR and calcium alginate gel.PP/IFR/CA flame retardant material has good thermal stability.Flame resistance of PP is improved by the expansion synergy between IFR and calcium alginate gel,and it is more obviously with the increased of IFR and calcium alginate gel content.IFR and calcium alginate gel play the role of heterogeneous nucleation in PP.In this study,polypropylene-based natural polymer composites were prepared with flame retardant and biodegradable.It not only improves the utilization of natural polymer materials,but also reduces the cost of traditional materials.It has very good development prospects due to energy saving,environmental protection,and environment-friendly.
