As the aluminum alloy is widely used in aviation, aerospace, automotive, machinery manufacturing, shipbuilding and chemical industries,There are many problems in drilling aluminum alloy.such as chip adhere to cutting tools, chip removal difficult, these factors factors contributed to poor quality of processed materials surface, drill broken by blocking of chips, and has a bad effect on processing efficiency. In order to solve those problems above,In this paper, through the verification experiment, selecting the relevant tool geometric parameters, and establish the mathematical model.Design and manufacture a kind of aluminum alloy processing with variable helix angle drill, and two contrast test was carried out.In the condition of dry and wet, contrast with ordinary twist drill under different cutting parameters; And in the condition of dry and wet, test the different variable helix angle drill.Analysis of the spiral groove surface, chip, cutting force, and the surface quality of hole. When drilling results show that the aluminum alloy material, variable helix angle drill can play a good chip removal performance, better than ordinary twist drill. And under one of the cutting parameters, one of the variable helix angle drills cutting performance is best. The chip morphology, cutting force is small, not easy to adhering a drill, chip removal rapidly, and good peformance of surface roughness of holes.
