Volcanic activity is the external manifestation of the internal geological process of celestial bodies.As a natural satellite of the Earth,there are shield volcanoes of the Moon,which are similar to those found on the Earth,Mars and Venus.Shield volcanoes have experienced a long-term,continuous accumulation of volcanic activities,which can be used as an indicator for the study of volcanic activities.In this study,we analyzed eight shield volcanoes on the whole Moon,including Marius Hills,Aristarchus Plateau,Shield Prinz,Mons Rümker,Shield Kepler,Shield Hortensius,Shield Gardner and Cauchy,which provide a window for studying the thermal evolution of the Moon.Based on the high resolution Lunar Orbiter Laser Altimeter?LOLA?data from Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter?LRO?,Clementine UV/VIS data,and Chang'e Lunar Microwave Sounder?CELMS?data,this study analyzed topographic information,the distribution of FeO and TiO2abundance?FTA?and three major silicates,and microwave thermal emission?MTE?features of the eight volcanoes,respectively.Through the study of the above parts,the understanding and knowledge of the volcanic activity on the lunar surface was further enriched.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:?1?Analysis of the topography characteristics of shield volcanoes.In this paper,the elevation and slope of eight shield volcanoes of the Moon are analyzed based on the 1/64°LOLA data.According to the shape of the shield volcanoes,the eight regions can be divided into seven nearly circular shield volcanoes and one elliptical shield volcano.In addition,the terrain of all shield volcanic areas is relatively broad,the terrain undulation is very flat,the structure is relatively stable,and the slope changes in the top and bottom areas are also relatively moderate.?2?The composition inversion analysis of shield volcanoes based on Clementine multispectral data.The exploration of material information on the lunar surface is a significant part of lunar exploration,and also provides an important reference for the origin and evolution history of the moon.Based on the Clementine UV/VIS multispectral data,the most suitable inversion model for the shield volcano region is established in this paper.Then the distribution of?FeO+TiO2?and three silicates?pyroxene,olivine and plagioclase?on the surface of eight shield volcanoes were inversed by linear model,and the characteristics of mineral content were analyzed.The results show that the material composition distribution of the eight shield volcanoes is different to some extent,which may be caused by many factors,such as large-scale impact events in the surrounding area,intense magma activities in the mare,and their own volcanic activities.?3?The analysis of MTE features of shield volcanoes.Compared with the penetration depth of several microns of thermal infrared data or optical data,the penetration depth of 10-20 times wavelength of CELMS data can reflect the thermal emission features of deeper lunar regolith.Through the brightness temperature?TB?of microwave data,it is found that the boundary of TB is consistent with the boundary of shield volcanoes,which indicates there are different thermophysical characteristics between shield volcanoes and its surrounding area.Eight shield volcanoes,even in the same mare or adjacent area,have different TB performance,for example,Marius Hills and Shield Cauchy show high TB anomaly at noon?“hot area”?,and the other shield volcanoes show low TB anomaly;Aristarchus Plateau and Shield Prinz have similar TB performance,but the TB performances of Shield Gardener and Cauchy are different.?4?The analysis of TB anomaly.Combined with topography and composition distribution,the hot TB anomaly is caused by topography,but related to the FTA,especially TiO2,that is,TiO2abundance is one of the main reasons for the TB anomaly of shield volcanoes.
