Vegetation is a key element of the regional ecological environment,and it is a specific characterization of the regional soil,moisture,and climatic conditions.Vegetation coverage can directly reflect the health of the regional ecological environment.Shanxi's ecosystem is relatively fragile.Changes in natural conditions and intense human activities will increase the pressure on vegetation cover and the ecological environment.Research on the temporal and spatial changes and driving factors of vegetation cover in Shanxi Province can be used for forestry,agriculture,ecological environment and natural resources Departments provide theoretical basis for policy formulation and implementation.This paper uses SPOT VEG NDVI time-series data to obtain the spatial and temporal distribution and change characteristics of vegetation coverage in Shanxi Province from 1999 to 2018.Based on this analysis,vegetation coverage and natural factors(temperature,precipitation,elevation,slope,aspect)and human activities are analyzed.(Population,GDP,returning farmland to forest and grassland policy,urban land use),the main conclusions are as follows:(1)The vegetation coverage in Shanxi Province generally shows a state of high in the southeast,low in the northwest,high in hills and hills,and low in plain basins;from1999 to 2018,NDVI in Shanxi Province increased from 0.52 to 0.74,and the overall vegetation coverage in the province improved;space for vegetation coverage In terms of changes,the area of improvement area reached 40.98%,mainly concentrated in the western part of Luliang Mountain,northern Jinzhong city,northern Linfen city and eastern area;the degradation area was less than 20.53%,which was mainly located in major basin areas,showing a substantial improvement in the western region as a whole.The eastern and western regions have been slightly degraded,the hilly plains have improved significantly,the mountainous areas have been basically stable,and the urban basins have clearly degraded.(2)The area where the temperature and NDVI showed a positive correlation in Shanxi Province was 55.02%,of which the significant positive correlation area(P<0.05)accounted for 20.25%;the area where the precipitation and NDVI showed a positive correlation in Shanxi Province was 92.86%,of which the area was significantly positively correlated.(P<0.05)accounted for 37.93%,the correlation coefficient was0.533,which was at a significant level;the elevation,slope,and aspect of Shanxi Province showed a positive correlation with NDVI,and the correlation coefficients were0.893,0.785,and 0.771,which were all at significant levels;elevation Vegetation coverage was highest at 2400m,50°slope and NW60°slope.Vegetation coverage improved best in areas with elevations of 1100m and slopes of 10-15°,and the slope had no significant effect on the change of vegetation coverage.(3)Shanxi Province's population density,average GDP,and NDVI all show a linear negative correlation,with correlation coefficients of 0.700 and 0.672,which are at significant levels.Vegetation coverage will decrease as population density and average GDP increase,but In the process of economic development,there is a certain positive effect on the surrounding forest land in the area of high land average GDP.From 2000to 2018,the average NDVI in the Shanxi Province's abandoned farmland area increased by 59%.The policy of returning farmland to forests and grassland has played a significant role in promoting the improvement of vegetation coverage in Shanxi Province.From 2000 to 2018,urban land increased by 1461km~2,of which 83%came from ecological land,and urban area NDVI decreased by 6.6%.The expansion of urban land has a significant inhibitory effect on vegetation coverage.(4)To improve the level of vegetation coverage in Shanxi Province,we can proceed from the following three aspects:continue to promote and improve the policy of returning farmland to forests and grasslands;rational use of natural resources to reduce ecological damage to vegetation;improving urban vegetation coverage and optimizing land use structures.
