In the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China,Chinese Academy was faced with "a great change that hasn't happened for thousands of years".How to transform Chinese academy became an urgent problem.With the introduction of western science,in the conflict between western academic and traditional Chinese academic,some scholars began to realize that the transformation of Chinese academic needs to rely on the influence of western modern academic,more precisely,the transformation of Chinese academic needs to rely on the power of science.Yen Fuh,who is at the beginning of modern Chinese academic,is a typical representative of these scholars.Yen Fuh's learning experience in his early years has cultivated his profound knowledge of traditional middle school and the perfection of western scientific system.This makes his understanding of how Chinese academy should transform at that time has the characteristics of both China and the west,and on this basis,he has formed three levels of views on science and Chinese academic transformation,i.e.knowledge system,academic system,academic method and academic spirit.Compared with people of the same era,he has a certain lead.Based on the arrangement of Chinese academic transformation contents in Yen Fuh's related works,this paper analyzes the three levels of views combined with the characteristics of Chinese and western academic,so as to form a systematic understanding of Yen Fuh's modern academic outlook.And then we can see how science plays a specific role in the process of Chinese academic transformation.The paper is divided into the following five chapters:The first chapter discusses the background of Yen Fuh's time and education.Under the premise of mastering the background of Yen Fuh's time,this paper focuses on combing Yen Fuh's early learning experience of middle school and western learning,and inspecting the formation process of his thought of both Chinese and western,which provides the ideological background for exploring and analyzing Yen Fuh's three levels of views on China's academic transformation.The second chapter,taking the meaning evolution of "academic" as the starting point,briefly combs the development of Chinese and western academic.Through this kind of combing,on the one hand,the relationship between western academic and science,especially the relationship between the emergence of modern western academic and science,has been grasped as a whole;on the other hand,the characteristics of traditional Chinese academic have formed a systematic understanding.This work provides the academic history basis for understanding Yen Fuh's understanding of Chinese and western academic in the three levels of views.The third chapter,based on the analysis of modern western academic and traditional Chinese academic knowledge system,investigates Yen Fuh's understanding and suggestions on Chinese academic transformation at the "knowledge system" level.This chapter explores the role of Science in the "knowledge system" level of Chinese academic transformation through the investigation of Yen Fuh's understanding and suggestions on the "knowledge system" level.The fourth chapter,based on the understanding of "politics and learning are inseparable" in the traditional Chinese academic,analyzes Yen Fuh's understanding of "old" and "new" in the academic transformation in China.Based on the analysis of the characteristics of traditional Chinese academic's "politics and learning are inseparable",this chapter systematically grasps Yen Fuh's understanding of "old" and "new",so as to explore the role of Science in Chinese academic transformation at the level of "academic system".The fifth chapter,on the basis of a brief analysis of the academic methods and spirit of modern western academic and traditional Chinese academic,grasps Yen Fuh's understanding and suggestions on Chinese academic transformation at the level of "academic methods and spirit",so as to explore the role of science on Chinese academic transformation at the level of "academic methods and spirit".
