The interaction behavior represents the proximity of two independent moving objects in time and space, which is similar to the definition of the random encounter event between the two moving objects in continuous space and time.Probabilistic time geography uses a fixed distance threshold for the definition of encounter events of moving objects. However, due to the distance-decay effect, different distances within the fixed threshold make the encounter events not always have the same possibility, and therefore, the quantitative probabilistic time geography analysis needs to consider the actual distance-decay coefficient(DDC).Thus, this paper introduces the DDC and proposes a new encounter probability measure model that takes into account distance-decay effect.Given two positions of a pair of moving objects, the traditional encounter probability model is that if the distance between two positions does not exceed a given threshold, the encounter event may occur and its probability is equal to the product of the probabilities of the two moving objects in their respective positions.Furthermore, the probability of the encounter at two given positions is multiplied by the DDC in the proposed model to express the influence of distance-decay effect on the encounter probability. At the same time, the examination of spatio-temporal interaction and random encounter in probabilistic time geography are all based on trajectory data of moving objects, that is,they all focus on the characteristics of motion behaviors of moving obejcts.Although the existing interactive theory has been widely used in related ecological research, which has also formed two types of measurement methods, static interactions and dynamic interactions. However, these methods have a high dependence on the accuracy of the data, and it is difficult to simulate the movement behavior between consecutive data records.Besides, the time-space granularity has a great influence on the results, and the result lacks explanatory problems. Therefore, this paper introduces the correlation method in probabilistic time geography into the research of spatio-temporal interaction measurement, eliminates the uncertainty of temporal data granularity between trajectory data, then introduces the encounter probability modified distance-decay function into interactions measurement.Based on these mentioned above, the interpretability of interactive measurement will be further improved. Thus, this paper can be divided into two mainly works:First, this paper introduces the DDC and proposes a new encounter probability measure model that takes into account distance-decay effect, thus the encounter semantic and encounter event in continuous space can be modified. The validity of the proposed model is verified by an experiment, which uses the tracking data of wild zebras to calculate the encounter probability and compares it with the former method. The time-space as the entry point is used to construct the encounter probability map and the encounter probability histogram, which can effectively describe the temporal and spatial distribution of zebra encounters.Second,in this paper, the potential region and distribution probability of moving objects in probabilistic time geography are introduced into the measure of spatio-temporal interaction, and the spatial distribution of moving objects on each time slice in the study period is constructed.Similarly, the zebra data is used to analyze the interaction measurement. On the basis of the traditional method, the zebra encounter probability and the time-space change law of the encounter distance are combined with the interaction study, and the qualitative encounter behavior is converted into quantitative interaction behavior. All of which can be used to clarified the interaction law and internal mechanism between zebras visually. On the one hand, this paper constructs an encounter probability model based on distance-decay effect, and improves the encounter theory in probabilistic time geography. On the other hand, the application of probabilistic time geography to the interaction measurement not only solves the difficulties and completes the traditional method. The transformation of encountering interactions enriches the application of probabilistic time geography in sports ecology.
