The conventional fixed-wing aircraft adopts an inclusive design scheme to meet the requirements of flying under different conditions,so that the performance of the aircraft in different flight environments cannot be in an optimal state.Recent developments in smart structures may overcome the limitations and enhance existing design solutions. In order to meet the needs of multi-mission flight,in recent years, based on the bionics perspective, various domestic and foreign variants have been proposed to change their aerodynamic layouts according to the changes of the external environment, and their statics, dynamics, and aerodynamic performance have been analyzed and studied. This dissertation proposes a novel mechanism named Active Camber Morphing spine(ACM spine)based on smart aerostructure for trailing edge flap which is equipped with non-back drivable actuation mechanism.Furthermore, the wing structure can produce corresponding changes with the changes of the external environment. The structure is designed with thin chordwise beam spine, rigid D-spar,stringers attached with the spine to support pre-tensioned elastomeric Matrix Composite(EMC)skin.Additionally, carbon fiber tendon pulley is used for actuation or transmission along with various kind of morphing configuration and actuation systems are also discussed. In order to eliminate the problem of skin buckling and wrinkling during actuation, with the help of finite element simulation analysis software ANSYS,the mechanical properties of the pretensioned skin were analyzed. On the basis of the result found in pre-tensioned skin, the relationship between wing deflection and driving force is used to evaluate the torque required for the actuation mechanism.Lift and drag characteristics of the basic NACA 0012 wing, the NACA 0012 wing with flap and ACM spine were compared to analyze the aerodynamic efficiency with the help of fluid analysis software Fluent.Simulation of wide ranged flight speeds, various angles of attack(?),and different trailing edge deflection angles, the lift and drag characteristics of NACA 0012 wing with flaps and the ACM spine wing profile provided a reference for the flight of the morphing wing.
