In this paper,12 typical plant communities in Songshan were taken as the research object.Through the combination of aboveground vegetation survey, soil seed bank sampling and germination experiment, the characteristics of the persistent soil seed bank in this area and their relationship with aboveground vegetation were discussed to predict their potential vegetation restoration capability. This capability provides a scientific basis for the stripping of local topsoil resources, vegetation restoration and greening projects. The main findings are as follows:1.The species composition and seed germination characteristics of the soil seed bank of 12 plant communities in Songshan were clarified. Each community is dominated by perennial herbaceous plants, shrubs and trees account for relatively few,and there are more species in the family Compositae and Rosaceae. In terms of seed germination,Elymus dahuricus meadow and Ulmus japonica forest belong to the early rapid germination community, and Betula dahurica forest,Betula platyphylla forest and Pinus tabulaeformis forest belong to the late rapid germination community.2.The density and spatial distribution characteristics of the soil seed bank of 12 plant communities were known. The study found that the density of the soil seed bank ranged from 586.67 ± 42.94 seeds· m-2 to 2475.33 ± 179.58 seeds· m-2,among which the density of Syringa villosa shrub was the lowest and that of Elymus dahuricus meadow was the highest. The vertical distribution shows that the depth of the soil layer increases, and the seed density shows a decreasing trend. The seeds of Syringa villosa shrub,Betula dahurica forest,Pinus tabulaeformis forest, and Betula platyphylla forest are buried deeply. The 0-15 cm soil layer contains more than 80% of the total density seeds, other communities contain more than 78% plant seeds in the 0-10 cm soil layer.3.The relationship between the soil seed bank and the aboveground vegetation was clarified. The study found that the similarity between the soil seed bank and the aboveground vegetation in Songshan was not very high, and the Sorensen similarity range was 0.304 ~ 0.545.The similarity of Populus davidiana forest is the lowest, and the species diversity of soil seed bank is higher than that of aboveground vegetation.4.Revealed the role and potential of soil seed bank in the restoration of degraded vegetation.By comparison,it can be found that Carex lanceolata,Potentilla indica,Chrysanthemum chanetii,Spiraea pubescens and Lespedeza bicolor are plants with a frequency of not less than 50% in the soil seed bank of each community;Difference,Syringa villosa shrub,Betula dahurica forest,Pinus tabulaeformis forest, and Betula platyphylla forest can obtain a large number of plant seeds by taking soil to 15 cm,while other communities can take soil to 10cm;when using soil seed bank for vegetation restoration,The Gramineae and Leguminosae plants can be appropriately supplemented according to the restoration needs to enhance the effects of vegetation restoration.
