In China, production and plantation areas of tomatoes are both rank first in the world. However, due to the single planting pattern throughout the years, continuous cropping obstacles have become a major problem in China's protected vegetable industry in recent years.Soil-borne diseases represented by Meloidogyne incognita are one of the main causes of continuous cropping obstacles. At present, the use of chemical nematicides is still the main method for the management of M.incognita.Since there are few non-fumigant nematicides available,it is urgent to find environmentally-friendly and efficient new non-fumigant nematicides to control M.incognita.Fluopimomide is a new type of fluorobenzamide fungicide independently developed by China. In the present study, the nematicidal efficacy of fluopimomide was evaluated in vitro and under greenhouse conditions against M.incognita and its effect on tomato plant growth was determined. The results of this study offer a new way to manage M.incognita, guarantee sustainable development of greenhouse vegetable industry and promote the development of novel agrochemical discovery in China. The results of the study were summarized as follows:1.In vitro, fluopimomide had a high toxicity to J2s and eggs of M.incognita with LC50of 23.4 and 9.5 mg/L after 48 h exposure,respectively.2.No phytotoxicity was observed in 1000,2000 and 4000 g/ha fluopimomide under greenhouse condition at 7,14 and 21 DAT,indicating that application of fluopimomide was safe to tomato plants.3.Greenhouse results showed that at 30 DAT,root galling indices of fluopimomide at250,500 and 1000 g/ha were 6.80?6.60 and 4.00,with control efficacy of 12.82%,15.38%and 48.72%,respectively.Meanwhile,the average number of M.incognita per 100 g of soil was 187.98,177.18 and 139.99,respectively,with control efficacy of 20.78%,25.33%and41.01%.At 60 DAT,root galling indices at fluopimomide at 250,500 and 1000 g/ha were3.60,5.80 and 6.40,with control efficacy of 17.95%,25.64%and 53.85%.Meanwhile,the average number of M.incognita per 100 g of soil was 152.42,133.78 and 88.41,respectively,with control efficacy of 32.21%,40.50%and 60.68%,indicating that fluopimomide effectively reduced the number of M.incognita in the soil.4.Greenhouse results also showed that different concentrations of fluopimomide treatment increased tomato plant height, stem diametere and above-ground biomass, which were significantly different from the untreated control, indicating that fluopimomide significantly promoted tomato growth.
