Adequate intake of strontium is essential for maintaining human health,but concentrations of Sr are generally low in drinking water in China.This deficiency can be remedied by drinking Sr-rich mineral water.Chengde city has many places rich in this type of mineral water.However,distribution and genesis mechanism of Sr-rich mineral water need more investigations,which are significant to the utilization and protection of mineral water resources in local areas or even in the world.Based on the geological and hydrogeological data of explored places of Sr-rich mineral water in Chengde city,this study selected three typical places in Luanping county,Kuancheng county and Pingquan city as objects of research,took typical aquifer rock samples for batch experiments,and investigated Sr leaching characteristics and controlling factors and formation mechanisms of Sr-rich mineral water.The main conclusions are shown as follows.?1?Strontium leaching is dependent on source rocks.Ca-feldspar and calcite are conducive to Sr leaching in the silicates and limestone aquifers,respectively.?2?Groundwater flow rate affects the formation of Sr-rich mineral water.Although the high flow rate promotes dissolution of aquifer rocks,it reduces the time of water-rock reaction and decreased concentration of Sr in groundwater.?3?The mobilization of Sr from rocks can be promoted with the presence of CO2 In addition,low pH values promotes the formation of Sr-type mineral water.?4?At high temperature,Sr leaching is constrained in anorthite-rich aquifers,but enhanced in carbonate-rich ones.The increasing pressure limits the release of Sr during the interaction between groundwater and rocks.?5?The formation mode of Luanping research area is shallow circulated type?in fissures?,where andesite is the main rock-source of Sr in groundwater with anorthite of the main mineral source.The formation mode of Kuancheng research area is mainly deep circulated type,where anorthite and chlorite in gneiss are the main source of Sr in groundwater.The formation mode of Pingquan research area is karst type,where Calcite in limestone is the main source of Sr in groundwater.
