Underwater optical images are widely used in marine resource exploration,marine engineering construction,and marine military.The underwater complex imaging environment,especially the selective absorption and scattering characteristics of water to light,makes the obtained images often have problems such as low contrast and blurred texture details.Therefore,how to use technology to maximize the restoration of underwater images to obtain effective image information is an important research direction.Aiming at the problems existing in underwater image processing,this paper proposes a restoration implementation combining restoration algorithm and enhancement algorithm.The main research work is as follows:(1)This paper designs and builds an experimental device for underwater imaging.In order to obtain high-quality underwater images,the hardware is selected according to the imaging characteristics of the underwater imaging system in the background of strong scattering media,including the camera and lens,the selection of the artificial light source;simulating the complex underwater environment,denoising the acquired noise-containing image,obtaining a high-quality underwater image,and preparing for the subsequent restoration realization.(2)Aiming at the underwater image processing results of the general algorithm,which tend to produce problems such as dark brightness,low contrast and color distortion,this paper proposes a combination of the improved dark channel prior algorithm and multi-scale Retinex(MSR)algorithm.Firstly,aiming at the darker brightness problem of underwater images realized by the dark channel prior algorithm,it is proposed to determine the transmittance of underwater image by comparing the image pixel intensity and the underwater background light value,thus suppressing the underwater environment.The influence of the white area on the image restoration quality;Secondly,the image is enhanced by the MSR algorithm;Finally,the dark channel prior algorithm and the MSR algorithm are pixel-fused according to the processing results of the two improved algorithms.(3)This paper evaluates the quality of image restoration from both subjective and objective aspects,and compares several commonly used underwater image processing algorithms with the results of the algorithm.The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has obvious effects in improving the contrast of underwater images and enhancing the texture details of images.It has application value in underwater topographic survey,shipwreck salvage and resource exploration.
