Laser display has the advantages of wide color gamut,long lifetime,high efficiency,low power consumption,etc.It is considered to be one of the first choices for household large screen display in the future.However,with the increasing popularity of household laser projection devices,the optical safety of the laser display products cannot be ignored due to the high energy and high convergence of lasers.Second,although the laser display can reproduce high-saturation colors,the higher the saturation of the color is,the lower the luminance will be,when the power consumption is constant.There are trade-offs between wide color gamut and high luminance.However,the brightness is related to the color saturation.Therefore,the relationship between chromaticity and brightness in laser display needs to be studied through subjective experiments in order to optimize the design.In addition,the high coherence of the laser brings about laser speckle,which also affects the image quality.Therefore,the paper discusses the key factors of household laser projection display from the aspects of optical radiation safety,the relationship between chromaticity and brightness and laser speckle.It provides a reference for optimizing the performance of laser display equipment.Its main content is summarized as follows:In terms of optical radiation safety,the paper analyzes laser radiation hazards;lists and describes the domestic and international laser display optical radiation and photobiological safety evaluation criteria,and especially focuses on the analysis of the differences between the IEC 60825 series and the IEC 62471 series,and compares the relevant domestic and international standards;provides reference for the correct application of laser display optical radiation safety related standards.In terms of the relationship between chromaticity and brightness of laser display,two subjective experiments are designed and operated using single-and dual-color laser projectors.Through the analysis of experimental data,we established the equi-brightness ratios line in the specific color gamut,which can clearly reflect the change rule of the perceived brightness with the chromaticity,that is,the brightness increases with the increase in saturation at the same luminance;with equivalent luminance and saturation,blue looks brighter than red,and red looks brighter than green;all chroma is higher than achroma with equivalent luminance.The performance of the single-and dual-color laser projectors also be compared visually;a feasible suggestion for the design of wide color gamut display devices is provided.Finally,in the laser speckle research section,the paper outlines the principle of laser speckle formation,analyzes the current methods of evaluating monochromatic and color speckle;explores the relationship between human eye perception and speckle phenomenon in the laser display through the design and implementation of visual perception experiments.Focused on the effect of speckle on brightness,the monochromatic speckle patterns with different speckle levels are simulated using Matlab.It is concluded that the brightness of the image with speckle pattern is influenced by its luminance distribution.
