Hundreds of rock avalanches were triggered by the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake.In recent years,numerical methods are widely used in analyzing landslides identified with high speed and long run-out.CFD methods are applied in the simulation of air blast induced by those events.I selected Niumian valley and Wenjia valley rock avalanches as typical examples,simulated the whole course of motion and characteristics of this two events with DAN3 D,and analyzed the air blast induced by Wenjia valley rock avalanche with FLUENT.Main work is as follows:(1)Based on the engineering-geological conditions of Niumian valley and Wenjia valley,DAN3 D models were built to simulate the influences of rheological criterions and parameters on the run-out behavior of rock avalanches;(2)A finite element model was built and introduced to FLUENT.Frictional and Voellmy rheological criterions were introduced to simulate the distribution of velocity and pressure of the air blast induced by Wenjia valley rock avalanche.
