The changes of polar ocean water masses, circulation and water exchange processes and their responses to global climate are the hot research directions of International Polar science.Antarctic Peninsula has been one of the key areas of Chinese Antarctic hydrographic surveys.Based on the model data, using the temperature, salinity and current data obtained from Chinese Antarctic hydrographic surveys around the Antarctic Peninsula, this paper focuses on the characteristics of water masses and water exchange around the Antarctic Peninsula. The distribution and characteristics of water masses around the Antarctic Peninsula are systematically analyzed, and the characteristic of circulation and water exchange around Antarctic Peninsula is analyzed.Mainly completes the following contents:1.The main water masses in the observation area are Antarctic Surface Water,Circumpolar Deep Water,Warm Deep Water,Antarctic Bottom Water,Bransfield Srait Bottom Water.Influenced by Shelf Water,Bransfield Srait Bottom Water of the eastern basin is warmer than that of the central basin.Compared with the Circumpolar Deep Water in the Drake Strait, the temperature and salinity of Circumpolar Deep Water of the Scotia Sea are lower. The characteristics of the water on both sides of the South Scotia Ridge are obviously different, and show a distinct distribution characteristics of cold in the South and warm in the north.Compared with the Circumpolar Deep Water in the Drake Strait, the high temperature and high salinity of Circumpolar Deep Water of the Scotia Sea are weaker.Affected by Circumpolar Deep Water carried by the Antarctic Circumpolar Current, the temperature of Weddell Sea Deep Water on the north side of the South Scotia Ridge is higher than that on the south side.Affected by Shelf Water,Winter Water,Warm Deep Water,Circumpolar Deep Water, the water masses structure of the South Scotia Ridge, the Philip Ridge and the Esperez Trough are complex. The high temperature and high salinity properties of Warm Deep Water are more evident in the interior of Weddell gyre than that in the edge.2.The results show that the main circulation around the Antarctic Peninsula is Antarctic Circumpolar Current and Weddell gyre, and the velocity of the outer edge of the gyre is larger than that of the inner gyre.Water exchange between Weddell Sea and Scotia Sea occurs mainly in the deep passages of the South Scotia Ridge, and the direction is mainly northward. The northwest water of the Weddell Sea enters the Powell Basin and flows clockwise. The velocity of the deep circulation is greater than 0.1 m/s.Water masses of Weddell Sea enter Scotia Sea through the Orkney Passage, the Bruce Passage and the Hesperides Gap,Philip Passage. The current velocity is 0.25 m/s in Orkney Passage,0.13 m/s in Bruce Passage and 0.1 m/s in Hesperides Gap.The Warm Deep Water and Weddell Sea Deep Water flow westward along the north side of the South Scotia Ridge, with a velocity of about 0.21 m/s.The westward current along the northern side of the South Scotia Ridge may intersect with the eastward ACC in the southern Scotia Sea.Warm Deep Water may flow southward and counterclockwise into the Hesperides Trough with a velocity of about 0.2 m/s.There is a strong slope flow in the east of the Antarctic Peninsula. Most of the high salt Shelf water enters the northern shelf of the Antarctic Peninsula.
