The western part of Inner Mongolia is located in the northwest of China, with unique geographical conditions, extremely fragile ecological environment, poor land and serious desertification, and has become an important source area of dust release in East Asia and the Pacific region.Based on the daily data of dust weather in 24 meteorological stations in western Inner Mongolia in 1960-2013,The spatiotemporal variation of dust, sand, dust storms and dust weather in the study area is analyzed emphatically. The aim is to provide theoretical basis for scientific prediction and control of dust weather. The results of the study show that:(1)The number of dust weather days in western Inner Mongolia, from the perspective of interannual changes,is on the whole,a fluctuating downward trend, and the peaks appear in 1966 years, according to their changing characteristics can be divided into high frequency period, attenuation period and low frequency period. From the changes in the year, the dust weather in western Inner Mongolia has occurred since January-December,with obvious monthly variation law;among them, the April-September showed a downward trend, from September to April the following year showed an upward trend,on the whole is showing a single peak type of change law.(2)The periodic characteristics of dust weather in western Inner Mongolia:There are 9a,11a two long cycles and 5a and 1.5a two short cycles in the number of floating dust days. There are three short cycles of 31a,12a,22a two long cycles and 5a,8a and 1.5a;The number of Sandstorm days is 31a,22a,13a three long cycles and 5a,8a,1.5a three short cycles;overall, the number of dust weather days in western Inner Mongolia has 31a,22a two long cycles and three short cycles of 5a,8a and 1.5a.(3)The mutant characteristics of dust weather in western Inner Mongolia:The number of floating dust days occurred in about 1976 years, the phenomenon of mutations occurred in about 1976 years, and the number of Sandstorm days mutated in about 1986 years.Over all,the number of dust weather days in western Inner Mongolia in the last 54 years occurred in about 1976 years.(4)The spatial distribution of the frequency of dust weather in western Inner Mongolia is consistent. The whole presents a frequent occurrence in the northwest, with less distribution characteristics in the southeast;According to the frequency of dust weather, the study area can be divided into three categories:dust weather high incidence area, median area, low incidence area.
