During the train travel,it is often affected by bad weather.To ensure the safety of train operation,it is necessary to build a railway weather monitoring and alerting system,which is able to realize effective,real and uninterrupted monitoring of meteorological along rail track,to provide meteorological information along rail track for railway operations,and to realize bad weather alarms,to ensure the safety of trains and passengers.In this study,the current research status of similar system at home and abroad and national standards were analyzed,and the on-site investigation results was combined,to design a railway weather monitoring and alerting system which meets the demand for the China's railway operation.Here in,the system mainly monitors are the wind direction,wind speed,rainfall and snow depth along rail track.And the system uses a surveillance camera to monitor the rail surrounding environment.First,the overall framework of the railway weather monitoring and alerting system was synthesized and designed.It consists of two components.One is the equipment on monitoring points,like the weather monitoring unit,which is the devices of data acquisition,data storage and data processing,etc.The other is the central system of the rail bureau,which can obtain the weather data and warning information from the monitoring site to guarantee for the train operation safety.Second,the data communication interfaces,alarm modules,software functions and database were designed thoughtfully.Third,in view of the uncertainty of the weather variation,the focus was mainly on studying the alerting technology of bad weather,namely,data-driven weather forecast method,and a support vector regression machine with multiple models was proposed,which combines the complementary ensemble empirical mode decomposition and the parameter optimization algorithm of differential evolution.Finally,an experimental platform of weather monitoring and alerting system was implemented,including the software codes of data acquisition,data storage and data analysis and processing.Using the wind speed data,the experimental results show that the proposed data-driven method is able to provide short-term,real-time and accuracy weather forecast,meeting the demand of the bad weather monitoring along rail track.
