Plant resource allocation is limited such that an increase reproduction incurs a reduction in other functions, quantified as reduced current growth, development or survival. This phenomenon called reproductive cost based on the theory of life history evolution.Sometimes the cost of reproduction can be shown in the trade-off between the cost of reproduction in the current year and that of the growth in the future, suggested that the reproductive cost had a delayed effect. The reproductive functional of dioecy is a Separated system at the individual level, male finished reproductive activities only by flowering, while female by flowering and fruiting.Dioecious plants,Acer barbinerve in which reproductive functions are separated into two distinct sexual forms, are especially suitable for studying the delayed effect of reproductive cost and gender difference on foliage and shoot, and whether could explain the delayed effect by hormones in a coniferous and broadleaved mixed forest in Jiaohe,Jilin Province.1.The foliage biomass of the female of Acer barbinerve detected at two module levels(shoot and branch levels),while the delayed effect of reproductive cost at leaf biomass of male only detected at shoot level, and the gender difference was significiant. The specific leaf area of the female had a delayed effect of reproductive cost in the flowering and fruiting times, while the male only in fruiting times, which the difference of sexes wasn't sigificiant. The delayed effect of reproductive cost was difference in module levels, and had a significant gender difference. The performance of the delayed effect of reproductive cost at the index of specific leaf area and leaf biomass at different module levels has a gender difference and difference in nutrient allocation.2.The length of new shoot of the female of Acer barbinerve detected the delayed effect of reproductive cost at shoot level and branch level at flowering times in 2013.While male was detected at shoot level at flowering and fruiting times in 2013 and at branch level at flowering times in 2013 and 2017.The shoot dry matter content of the male and female had a delayed effect of reproductive cost at flowering times without gender difference. Thus, the module level affected the detection result. The delay effect of reproductive cost has significant gender differences on the shoot organs, while without significiant gender difference on the dry matter content.3.The content of gibberellin in female foliage was performed delayed effect of reproductive cost without sexes difference;the content of auxin in new shoot of male and female also had the expected result, which difference wasn't sigificianr between sexes and treatments. Thus,The delayed effect of reproductive cost detected at endogenous hormones, while difference wasn't sigificianr between sexes and treatments, and couldn't explain by hormones.
