| Recently, the controllability of complex network is a focus topic in network sci-ence.Most of the existed work studies homogeneous networked systems,i.e.,each node of the network has identical node dynamics.Considering the node heterogeneity of practical networks, this paper studies the controllability of heterogeneous networked systems. The heterogeneity indicates that each node of the network has different node dynamics, and the nodes are heterogeneous higher-dimensional linear time-invariant(LTI)dynamical systems. This paper thoroughly studies quantitative and qualitative relations between the controllability of heterogeneous directed networked systems and the network topolo-gy,node dynamics, external control inputs,as well as the inner interactions, and some controllability criteria are developed for several different kinds of networked systems. The main contents and novelties are concluded as follows:(1)unravels the heterogene-ity of node dynamics on the effect of the network controllability, the homogeneous networked system is uncontrollable when the network topology is uncontrollable,how-ever,the heterogeneous networked system may be controllable for the same network topology.(2)For general node dynamics and network topology,a necessary and suf-ficient condition is derived for the controllability of heterogeneous networked MIMO LTI systems.(3)Considering node dynamics of controllability canonical form,con-trollability criteria are derived for single-input-single-output(SISO)node dynamics and diagonalizable network topology respectively. For some typical cases, more specific and precise necessary and/or sufficient conditions are derived. |
