This study is a trial application of iMapower.In recent 3 years,this paper improved the generalization method of geologic maps using data driven.Originally put forward an intelligent marking of geologic code names and an intelligent smoothing of geological boundary.It also evaluated the application effect of data driven using in generalizing geologic maps.This paper is supported by the project “The general geologic maps and database updating”,which is undertaking by CGSDRC(Development Research Centre of Chinese Geologic Survey).Based on mass basic geologic data,the project explore a new method for updating geologic maps.According to several trial applications in different scales of some regions,it put forward a new generalizing geologic maps technology driven by “data and expert knowledge”.It created a expert knowledge repository and solved the problems of intelligent inheriting properties,updating properties,distinguishing contact relationship,marking geologic code names.Then found the technical system of updating basic geologic data and the workflow of generalizing maps by means of iMapower.The map compilation area covers Luoyang 1:250,000 geologic map.Using iMapower,this research carry out a geologic map and database updating work driven by data of the scale 1:50,000 to scale 1:250,000.The main conclusions as follows:1.This study collected all the finished geologic maps of scale 1:50,000 and geologic materials in research area.Generalized a new Luoyang 1:250,000 geologic map by data driven method.Improved the generalizing workflow of scale 1:50,000 to scale 1:250,000.2.Using the feature measurements of code grouping and character types in geologic code names,the study invented a intelligent making software.That can mark and recognize geologic code names by computer,which greatly improved the efficiency for marking geologic code names.3.Using resample algorithm of rarefying geologic elements and topological relationship,according to the sample radius,this research put forward a new algorithm.The algorithm were proved efficient for smoothing geologic boundary.4.According to assess the application effect of iMapower,it proved that data driven method can save half work of traditional generalizing maps;653 suggestions to improve the application have been proposed as well,so as to make contributions to further advancement and development of the iMapower software.
