Investigation And Protection Of Fossil Resources Of The Lower Cretaceous Xinlong Formation In Napai Basin,Fusui County,Guangxi

Fossils are fossilized biological remains or vestiges formed during the geological history and deposited in the sedimentary strata.They are empirical records of the study of the evolution of the earth,the origin of life,and biological evolution,and are precious natural heritage that cannot be regenerated.Guangxi Fusui Fossil Origin is one of the first batchs of 38 national key protected ancient fossil production centers recommended by the Ministry of Land and Resources in 2014.To study the fossils yielded in the Xinlong Formation of the Lower Cretaceous in the Napai Basin,Fusui County,to effectively protect and scientifically utilize the fossil resources in the Fusui County,to create an important fossil scientific research,teaching,science popularization and display base in Guangxi and even in the whole country,and to promote the development of fossil resources,the sustainable development of the county's cultural industry and social economy is of great significance.The total area of the Fusui Napai Basin in Guangxi is about 150 km~2,and in an ellipse shape from north east to south west.The exposed strata in the basin is the Lower Cretaceous Xinlong Formation(K1x),and the fossils are produced in the second(K1x~2)and third(K1x~3)members of the Xinlong Formation,mainly including herbivorous giant and large sauropod dinosaurs.The major group are both small and medium-sized Iguanodon and horned dragons;carnivorous dinosaurs including large spinosaurus and shark toothosaurus,and small animal dinosaurs.In addition,there are abundant animal fossils such as crocodilians,turtles,bony fishes,cartilaginous fishes,and bivalves.They are known as the"Xinlong Fauna."This fauna is completely different from the animal population of the age in northern China,but it is similar to the animal populations in the contemporary strata of Thailand and Laos in Southeast Asia.It has important international significance.Based on the distribution characteristics and output horizons of the fossils that have been produced in Napai Basin,and on the basis of effectively satisfying the protection needs,ensuring ecological environment,and sustainable socio-economic development,this paper proposes that the Napai Basin fossil production area be specifically divided into key protected areas.And general protected areas,including key protection areas set up core protection points.Under the principles of zoning protection and hierarchical management,this article discusses the specific plans for the protection of fossils in the Napai Basin from the aspects of resource investigation,fossil excavation,protection of production areas,scientific research cooperation,popular science propaganda,and information construction;From the perspective of development and utilization of coordinated development,in accordance with the strategic thinking that protection is the foundation,utilization is the way,and development is the goal,the issue of building a cultural town with fossil characteristics in Fusui County is studied.In order to implement the“Internet+Fossil Protection”and strengthen and facilitate the management of fossil specimens in fossil-producing areas,this study has developed a“Fossil Identification Card Issue and Identification System”.Just as the“Internet+”action plan has had a profound impact on China's social,economic,and cultural aspects,it has gradually implemented automation of fossil identification,digitization of fossil collections,holographic fossil display,intelligentization of fossil science,and Fossil ID management,etc.in the Fusui fossil producing areas.The“Internet+Fossil Protection”project will surely change the methods and levels of the protection and management of fossils,scientific research and the development of fossil culture industries.
