Language is a unique cognitive ability of human beings.It is an important feature of our human distinction and animals.In recent years,researchers have gradually increased the study of brain language,especially the functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging(fMRI).The development and advancement of neuroimaging technology represented by a large number of research literatures on the language functions of the brain have contributed to a certain extent to the human understanding of how the brain reads,processes and outputs linguistic information and promotes language-related technologies.However,the current human understanding of the brain’s linguistic function remains the tip of the iceberg.Although fMRI technology has achieved certain results in studying the language functions of the brain,there are still many problems to be solved.As Poldrack1 pointed out in 2016 as a problem with functional magnetic resonance false positives,it made people begin to be cautious about the results of previous magnetic resonance imaging studies.At the same time,f’MRI studies mainly to study the relationship between the brain’s speech function and the target brain area,and did not verify whether the target brain area and the language function studied have a causal relationship,and the causal connection to a certain extent than the simple correlation More convincing.This article will study the language function of the brain based on a new technique,transcranial magnetic stimulation(TMS).Although there are already literatures on the use of TMS technology to study brain language functions in foreign countries,they are relatively few compared to functional neuroimaging,and most of them use western language as the first language to study subjects.For the most-used Chinese,it is very meaningful for Chinese people to study the language functions of the brain in depth.TMS technology is a non-invasive nerve stimulation and nerve regulation technology.Using electromagnetic induction principle,a strong current will generate a pulsed magnetic field through the toroidal coil instantaneously.The pulsed magnetic field can penetrate the scalp and skull and affect the cerebral cortex non-invasively and nondestructively.It stimulates the flow of ions inside and outside the neuron membrane,which causes the neurons to produce depolarization,thereby generating weak electrical signals that interfere with the normal activity of neurons.Therefore,using TMS technology can inhibit or dissimilate a neural activity that targets the brain area to explore the ongoing processing of language information in the brain to explore the causal link between the targeted brain area and the language function.Previous studies have found that ideographic orthographic language(eg.Chinese)speakers of the left brain frontal gyrus(BA9)play an important role in the processing of Chinese phonetics,and letters in the orthographic language(eg.English)of the verbal area of the speaker(BA40).has an important role in English speech processing.In order to explore whether there is a causal relationship between the left brain frontal gyrus and the zygomatic region and the Chinese and English speech processing tasks,this study will be based on TMS as a technical means for the experimental study of specific design experiments and TMS frequency,intensity and duration,etc.The key parameters are to study whether BA9 brain area will affect the ongoing Chinese homonym judgment task under the influence of TMS;whether BA40 brain area influences the English homophonic judgment task being conducted under the influence of TMS.In this study,visual stimulation was used as the input to guide healthy adults to test the speech and speech information.At the same time,the subject was treated with speech and repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation was used to modulate the neural activity of BA9 or BA40,and data were collected.The empirical method confirms that there is a causal link between BA9 brain region specificity and Chinese speech information processing,and there is a causal link between BA40 brain region specificity and English speech information processing,which also confirms the validity of the TMS parameters designed in this study.TMS technology is also an effective tool to explore the language functions of the Chinese language as the mother tongue and English as the second language bilingual. |
