In the marine environment, microplastics and organic pollutants are two typical pollutants, but the interaction between them is rarely studied.Microplastics can adsorb organic pollutants in the marine environment and can easily be eaten by marine animals, causing serious damage to marine life and the marine environment. In this study,Tonalide(AHTN),musk xylene(MX),musk ketone(MK)and 3,6-dibromocarbazole(3,6-BCZ),1,3,6,8-tetrabromocarbazole(1,3,6,8-BCZ)were investigated, while polypropylene(PP)was used as the microplastic. The effects of various factors such as particle size, salinity, and concentration on the adsorption of halogenated carbazole and synthetic musk by microplastics under simulated seawater conditions were investigated.Mathematical models were used to fit the experimental results. It was found that the equilibrium sorption time was about 10 h and the adsorption kinetics model conformed to a Lagergren adsorption model. The adsorption capacity increased with decreasing particle size.Adsorption reached a peak at 25 °C,and the adsorption capacity was not sensitive to the concentration of sodium chloride. There is a need for more research and monitoring of microplastics in the marine environment due to their strong ability to absorb organic pollutantsResults showed that pseudo-second-order kinetic model is more suitable to describe the adsorption of halocarbazole by micro-plastic than pseudo-first order kinetic model;equilibrium sorption time is about 6h,8h for 3,6-BCZ and 1,3,6,8-BCZ respectively. The adsorption capacity increases with decreasing particle size; The adsorption capacity increased first and then decreased with the increase of salinity, and reached the maximum when the salinity is 14%;the adsorption amount increases with the increase of the concentration, and the adsorption rate increases first and then stabilizes;and the adsorption isotherms conform to the extended Langmuir model and the extended Freundlich model, both of which are S-type.
